With that in mind, it’s now desperate to get the two remaining good guys - Hammond and May - back in the Top Gear studio after the pair chose not to renew their contracts without Clarkson at their side; that’s what you call loyalty. That’s why a deal of £4.6m has been put on the table to tempt them back. The offer would net the duo around £1.15m a year and would cover two or three series.
More in the sources and all around the web really. Morons.
You reap what you sow bbc [editline]woops[/editline] Yes, very silly of me to say but what did they expect when you take out one from the infamous trio? It's like the three musketeers but you take one away and expect it to still be the three musketeers.
it wouldn't work without clarkson
This is some intense backpeddling from their previous stance of three new hosts.
I doubt Richard and May would be sellouts. BBC nice try but you dun fucked and left bad blood.
Exactly. I'm not particularly interested in whether or not BBC did good in sacking him. I'm not interested in that debate. The fact is they sacked them, and I'm glad Hammond and May refused to do it without him. Good.
How's it go? Don't call it a grave. It's the future you chose.
You cannot repair what has been broken BBC
It's either all three of them or not a single one, BBC should know that already.
Who I feel sorry for is the people still working for Top Gear, managing the social media accounts and the website and whatnot, that had no say in whether or not Jeremy stayed. Wonder how they're feeling.
Apparently, they might have a guest presenter each week for a season and then bring Jezza back permanently. Not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, the crew back together would be amazing, but that one series would be shit.
BBC is digging its own grave, it'll be all over soon. Moves to decriminalize non-payment of TV licence Accusations of bias Destroyed their top earner They'll actually have to earn their money and provide more than nature documentaries or left wing news panels like every other TV station does right now if they want to go places.
The only incentive those two will accept is Clarkson's reinstatement.

The only thing I could find is Clarkson mentioning that he was dropped from Top Gear, not the BBC as a whole.

Of course, as always - take with salt.
Illuminati broke top gear.
What if all of this is an elaborate plan. Clarkson wanted a cushy retirement so he got kicked out, Richard and May quit in solidarity knowing full well BBC would bend over backwards to get them back again. So now they'll agree to the exorbitant sum, divide it three ways and laugh.
this went way too far

Uh, £1.15m a year sounds like what I would expect them to get normally, there? Is there any word on how much their previous contract was?
My prediction is as follows: A series or two on Netflix (I know ITV were interested, but if they run commercials for cars and they're then ridiculed for whatever reason on a show their broadcast, there are issues), to great success and the BBC come cap in hand to the three of them and beg them to return.
You cannot repair what has been broken BBC
*without all the pieces
Pretty sure a full reboot is the only viable option, but it takes a degree of balls to do it
To bad Jeremy Clarkson acted like spoiled brat. Assaulting a producer is no way to act.
Uh, £1.15m a year sounds like what I would expect them to get normally, there? Is there any word on how much their previous contract was?
Estimated £500k per year, Clarkson was supposedly on £1 million.
Clarkson and that producer who got into it settled their differences and were even eager to get back to work with each other, so as far as I'm concerned, no harm no foul, and it's now all on the BBC
Can we get rid of the tv licence fee now?
To bad Jeremy Clarkson acted like spoiled brat. Assaulting a producer is no way to act.
So if you got told you might have cancer meanwhile your wife called for a divorce you'd be totally jolly in life, right?
To bad Jeremy Clarkson acted like spoiled brat. Assaulting a producer is no way to act.
Yeah but how does this affect us? I honestly don't really give a crap who he punches or what his personal life is or if he's a dick, if he provides me the entertainment and laugh that he usually does on Top Gear, it's all that matters to me. Anything else has absolutely diddly shit to do with me.
Oh this is just grade-a gold. Even a blind man could have seen this one coming, and they went ahead and did it anyway :v:
