• Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto Has Lost Control Of His Email Address

Theymos, a veteran in the Bitcoin community, posted a thread on Bitcointalk a few hours ago stating that he received an email from an old email address known to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto: satoshin@gmx.com, belonging to the creator of Bitcoin, the mysterious, Satoshi Nakamoto. Theymos said that the email stated, and he quotes: “Michael, send me some coins before I hitman you.” Theymos recognized that the “real” Satoshi Nakamoto would probably not send that message, and as such he inferred that Satoshi Nakamoto’s accounts had been compromised. The P2P account is known to have been used by Satoshi in the early years of Bitcoin and it was purportedly used again earlier this year to simply state: “I am not Dorian Nakamoto” when disgraceful “journalism” by Newsweek supposedly pinned the Bitcoin Founder’s identity onto a man by the name of Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. what a subtle not-12-year-old-like attempt at impersonation
It's also worth nothing the one in possesion of his email wants to sell identity of Satoshi Nakamoto to anyone who pays him 25 BTC...
In a Pastebin post, Jeffrey said he will release Satoshi’s secrets if someone pays 25 bitcoins—about $12,000 to his bitcoin address. He says he has email messages dating back to 2011.
http://www.wired.com/2014/09/satoshi/
Doesn't the original BTC dude have like thousands of Bitcoins?
for such a high profile compromise/blackmailing that's a hilariously low demand
he probably doesn't have anything more concrete than the next guy and is betting on more than one person cashing in on that
A hacker wishing to remain anonymous is holding ransom the identity of a guy who wants to keep his life private. It's also been noted elsewhere that GMX's password recovery process is a joke. Besides allowing multiple attempts in succession, you need to know very little information about the person to reset their password.
for such a high profile compromise/blackmailing that's a hilariously low demand [editline]e[/editline] to below post, I think so too
I think so too, it is very very weird, but the hacker also posted screenshot of some order made by him, but he decided to censor out the data by using spray tool in some program, and someone on reddit was able to recover what's underneath: [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/qlum67w.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/br5OQhd.png[/thumb]
stlouis 4198 bruce street Anthon Gean
It just seems unlikely that a person who hijacked his email would overlook something like that for me...
PR0-ti3r h4ck3r
maybe it's an elaborate ruse to frame someone
Like i said it's very unlikely that he fucked up like that, and i think someone checked out the adress and it appeared to not exist (can't find the post tho). [editline]10th September 2014[/editline] Also look at the telephone number, the last digits are actually solid black.
maybe it's an elaborate ruse to frame someone
True, either we have a hacker with a massive intellect making little flaws or a hacker with little intellect making massive flaws.
