"My girlfriend dumped me because I smoked too much pot and drank too much white wine." A new show on HBO starring Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore, I Heart Huckabees, also some musical outfits (in fact I think the theme is written by him under the name Coconut Records). It's a comedy about a man whose girlfriend leaves him and he's bored after he finds an old school detective novel and decides to put an ad up on craigslist as a private investigator. The shenanigans continue. Also in this show are Ted Danson (Cheers), and Zach Galifianakis with a slew of other guest appearances (i.e., Kristen Wiig, Patton Oswalt). Technically it premiers on September 20th, but episode one is on HBO On Demand already, and I must say it's rather magnificent. If you're into dark comedies and/or the noir detective style, then this show will be for you. This show has the perfect combination of comedy and dullness to perfect the dark comedy, while maintaining just enough mystery to be able to fall under the category OF mystery. If you have HBO, I highly suggest trying to watch this show, if you have On Demand, watch it NOW, and if you don't have HBO, bug your friends to watch it at their house. It's only 30 minutes long (damn), worth the time to watch it.
Any chance this will get shown in UK? Looks pretty good.
Sounds like something I'd watch, specially if Zach Gallififaosckasfwhatever and Patton Oswalt's in it.
Looks pretty good.

I forget what the UK equivalent of HBO is (C4?), but probably just not in the same time period as this. There are services such as Surf The Channel that link to sites that host videos from across the television and film genres, so check it out. Bored To Death is probably up there already.
Sounds like something I'd watch, specially if Zach Gallififaosckasfwhatever and Patton Oswalt's in it.
Zach is one of the main characters, but Patton Oswalt is a guest star within the first 6 episodes. Not sure which episodes he's in, I know it's at least two though.
The guy on the cover looks like the TV Star from Funny People. Edit: Awesome, it is. Makes it worth seeing. Thanks for the suggestion Vent.

Yeah, it's that guy, but I haven't seen that movie so I didn't reference it . Been a huge fan of Schwartzman since I first saw Rushmore in 2000. He's been in bands like Phantom Planet, and now Coconut Records.

Eh okayish.

when is cider going to be added to the list?
Just watched the first episode. Hilarious show. The best part was when [sp]Jonathan was talking to the meth head through the bathroom door.[/sp]
Who else watched last night? Hopefully this show will get renewed (unless it goes down the shitter midway through the season).
I have a sneaking suspicion that in the opening titles of the show they spoiled the entire plot of the season in those book pages (which I did pause and read.) The first few were the opening with some additional standard noir shit thrown in and then it jumped to what I assume to be the last page which said something about [sp]a girl being dead and that he failed[/sp]
Zach Galifianakis? Man that guy is awesome. Being a greek, I have to make fun out of you non-greeks. His name is Ζαχαρίας Γαλιφιανάκης (Zacharias Galifianakis) in greek ;)
