Poor Boogie. It is obvious he is trying to downplay what happened, but regardless the fact what she said to him after the panel is completely unacceptable.
That gal was triggered just by the mere presence of Sargon at Vidcon and wanted him to be kicked out.

I don't blame her

No, he was sitting silently in the crowd and she saw him, then went on some massive tirade singling him out and calling him a "garbage human" afterwards she took to Twitter and started a big campaign against him. This all happened while she was at an anti cyber bullying panel.
I'm not a big fan of Sargon, I think he's an arse perpetuating arseyness. Nor am I fan of Anita, I think similar thoughts about her. However, it seems to me like the clearest way of describing her reaction to Sargon is that she started harassing him unprovoked whilst hosting a panel about preventing harassment.
Worth noting also that Sargon and Laci Green ended up reconciling and apologising to each other at the convention. Seems he wasn't looking for a fight.
Did she ever finish her video series, or is she still riding the gravy train and trying to get attention?

The fact that Anita attacked Boogie backstage as well is telling of what kind of person she is.

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be in the same building with Sargon of Akkad, though I probably wouldn't overreact like she did. That's why I said that I don't blame her. I am fully aware that Anita is quite the "garbage human" herself, and Boogie's video is definitely proof of that.
That girl is always looking to be a damn victim, and spends most of her time figuring out how to deal with people that actually argue logically against her.
Poor boogie, but damn seems like he dealt with it really nicely, even though its a hard spot for him to be in.
The fact that Anita attacked Boogie backstage as well is telling of what kind of person she is.
The biggest criticism I have of boogie is that he's TOO nice
the man is genuinely incapable of doing wrong. He's just too big of a sweetyfarts
Being mean to boogie is like kicking a kitten. like what the fuck is wrong with you.

Anita's fanbase is honestly one of the worst out there simply by proxy of following her
The only reason she's even around at all is because she annoys people into getting fame.
Boogie says that we shouldn't throw any hate her way but the fact that he was so anxious to begin with is kind of telling of her reputation
I respect Boogie as a person because he tries to remain calm and neutral about a situation but he's obviously trying to justify/excuse what Anita did. Anita isn't worth this kind of mental and physical stress. She's a manipulative bullying con-artist who's hijacking legitimate causes to fill her bank account (it makes sense she's friends with people like Zoe Quinn). She doesn't care one bit about combating cyberbullying and general bigotry because if she did the cash flow would stop.
(Now am I saying things like death threats, rape threats, etc. are justified against Anita? Not one bit. But she isn't a good person and deserves to criticized)
Did she ever finish her video series, or is she still riding the gravy train and trying to get attention?
Allegedly it was finished this April.
She pretty much just reconfirmed herself as a total bitch again to me.
Honestly Boogie shouldn't be apologizing for anything.
Stuff like this, not boogie but the Anita and Sargon conflict, is like seeing two volatile chemicals coming into contact with each other and generating something more volatile. Makes me glad that neither of them interest me nor anyone similar. But I do see the appeal in watching a car crash such as what occurred, but I'd prefer to see less of it occur though I doubt that's what the future entails.
Just shows what a horrible person she is when she's willing to go off on someone as nice as boogie.
She acts like such a spoiled child.
He shouldn't apologize, it makes things worse by enabling her. Pisses me off how spineless Boogie can be especially when he didn't do anything wrong.

What a victim
I remind that Boogie has severe anexity and PTSD. He isn't good at dealing with these things and always want to avoid conflict. Don't be harsh on him.
Boogie is one of the very very few people I've ever seen who deserves literally zero negativity sent his way. He's done literally nothing wrong.

It's in Boogie's nature to be a nice man. I don't think he has a single mean bone in his body. It's also so sad to see nice people get treated horribly by people who play the victim like Anita. I'm honestly surprised she still has a presence in media.
Anita Sarkeesian is a cunt, period. Why Boogie is so bothered to not upset her is beyond my understanding, I hope he'll change his mind about her someday.

Honestly, knowing how Sargon acts, he purposely went to that panel just to get a reaction from Anita. Doesn't justify Anita's response, but Sargon 100% went there looking for trouble, so he can post about it to his kekistani frog friends on twitter

Boogie has the right idea to be honest. Attempting to resolve problems without being a frothing sperglord like Sargon or a nuclear grade weapon of a dipshit like Anita isn't a bad thing to aim for.
Keep shit cordial, even if you "lose", at least you don't look like a twat because of it.

absolutely this. she took the bait, put a legitimate cause on the backburner, and proceeded to perform her own personal show for fun and profit.
Also that onision dude is 31 years old? part of me wants to take pity.

Whatever your opinion is on him, you never signal out anyone for the audience and attack them on the podium where you hold more power than them
she could of ignored him, could've just not even fucking looked at him but she did. I don't like Sargon but he has the right to sit and listen to whatever open forum he wants, and he was being really respectful about it too
I don't care if you hate Sargon, I sure do, but her behaviour is unacceptable
Bullying someone at an anti bullying conference is beyond the fucking pale
Imagine being so worried to offend anyone that you rehearse, double, triple, quadruple check your notes with many different people, so that you SURELY wont offend anyone in the slightest and lose a lot of sleep over it.
And still you offended someone.
Its insane.
People are afraid to talk and discuss ideas because everyone's so scared of accidentally offending someone.
Ive never heard of boogie until now, but man he seems like a super chill, down to earth guy. Anxiety about offending literally anyone is totally something I can relate to, and it's unfortunate that Anita decided to be less than level headed towards him.

This is basically where 99% of my social anxiety comes from. I hear so much shit about people flying off the handle for the smallest infractions, that even though it's an irrational fear because the majority aren't like that, it still makes me severely anxious talking to people I don't know well.

Unfortunately it happens at most parts of the political spectrum when it comes to people trying to appeal to everyone or certain scopes. The best way to deal with it is to kill with kindness and understanding. Often a teacher can fail to teach someone about a topic because the teacher is just so unpleasant. Some will keep toxic, but oft your going to attract more people with honey than vinegar.
Looks like Anita just got a slap on the wrist when it came to the Sargon incident:
During the panel, a panelist called out one of the audience members for being someone who has made her life very difficult, and wished she didn’t have to give him attention because he was a “garbage human.” Look, we don’t want our panelists to insult our audience members, even when we completely understand that the comment exists in a much broader (and pretty messed up) context. Even when people have said hateful things that everyone in our office disagrees with, we have a policy, and it exists not just to protect people at the show, but to protect our ability to have these conversations.
Our founder, Hank Green, talked with our panelist and said two things:
He told her that her comment had violated our policy, but that he understood that there was a broader context (which to be clear, we were blissfully ignorant of until this weekend, and remain inexpert in.)
He apologized to her for not having been more aware of and active in understanding the situation before the event, which resulted in her being subjected to a hostile environment that she had not signed up for.
We agreed that she would go forward and continue on as a panelist on a later panel.
This is a difficult situation to build policy to alleviate, but we ask that all of the people involved consider the power of our actions and statements both online and in the real world. But one specific note, if people attend VidCon to collect footage to later use in videos that criticize not just ideas, but focus the outrage of their followers on individuals, they will not be welcome back.
Disappointing that the founder apologized to her for her breaking the rules.
