I was born there and makes me happy when i visit. I haven't been there since 08. Anything i should know before i go?
Remember, don't go to the south side. Thats all that you need to know pretty much.
In between the Irish part of town and the gay part is a kickass street with a comic book store, a retro game store, two smoke shops, and "The Alley" which has a t-shirt for just about every popular band since the 60's. Also, if you get lost in a bad part of town after dark the police will seriously let and encourage you to run red lights to get the hell out of there.

Yeah, just don't go to the South side. Everywhere else is great. I've lived in Chicago all my life and I've never explored even half of downtown. When I do, I'm amazed at how beautiful the buildings look. The North side is pretty good also, lots of stores and cool looking stuff. I love this place.

The White Sox play in the south side of Chicago, and thats the only good thing I have to say about the area.
Oh, and I'm not implying I live in the south side of Chicago. I live in the northwestern part of Illinois.
There's the House of Blues, which is pretty neat from what I've seen.
