Now we have all been deceived at one point or another about a book being made into a movie, most probably because that movie didn't reflect what we imagined of the book or they had to cut off some parts. However, I think in some cases, it might be cool to see some books made into movies. So is there a book you'd like to see made into a movie?
For me, I'd say I'd love to see a book based on Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six novel. The book sent chills down my spine most of it, plus if they took the theme from the video games, it would also make one of the best movie themes ever. According to IMBD, it's under development, and is due for 2010, but that page hasn't changed for a while.

If they pulled off the Quick Years mini-chapter correctly, it would work pretty awesome in my opinion.
Best hopeful post-apocalyptic book in my opinion.
I always loved Robinson Crusoe, if that's the name in english.
There is a old movie about it, but i would love to see a more recent one.
Edit:
Wait know what, i think Tom Hanks did a good job already.

being worked on
After seeing the movie Eragon I never want to see a book movie again.
(Not to mention every other movie based on a game or book with few exceptions like LoTR)
There's already a movie for it, but they should re-make it.

All the best movies are based off of books. Just off the top of my head: One Flew Over, No Country for Old Men, the Godfather, Gone With the Wind.
Although I have seen Eragon as well, so I can understand your pain.
Goodfellas
The Reality Dysfunction

Brave New World > 1984
DBDA.

Great zombie book, would make an intense movie.

Brilliant book. Read it, if you haven't.
Brave New World > 1984
Debatable. Both very good books. Love to see both of them remade into modern movies.
Methinks 1984 > Brave New World, even though BNW was a more accurate future, I suppose. I just didn't like it, but I think a movie might be good.
World War Z (I know its being worked on)
Rainbow Six (I think it would be the first thing to go from book->game->movie in that order)
And anything by Ellen Hopkins (done right they could be very good movies)

Meh, I thought it was pretty mediocre.
Not bad, but not that good.

the BIBLE

(I'm serious by the way. The book reads as a really educational autobiography. If done right, this movie would be hilarious yet help a lot of people)
The book I'd like to see as a moving picture, is SUPPOSEDLY in the works, but I won't believe it until it actually happens.

Invisible Monsters. Indeed.
The entire Horus Heresy book series.

Peter Jackson has apparently been working towards an adaptation of this for awhile. last I heard he was thinking about a tv mini series though but that was just something he was considering and nothing is really set yet. He's apparently had the rights for it for years.

Great ideas, JUST have to keep them away from Hollywood. Or else they'll be blown out of proportion and put in the hands of Michael Bay or something.

It'd be difficult to blow the Horus Heresy out of proportion. My desktop background right now is a 13+ foot tall Emperor of all of Mankind in golden armor covered in eagles wielding a flaming sword about to kill his son whose black armor his decked out with shrunken heads and skin from human faces in a psychic battle. Also he worships the gods of an alternate dimension of pure evil.
I suppose Hollywood could make them 14 feet tall or something.
If I remember correctly, they'd been trying to get "Ender's Game" (along with the first book in the parallax series: "Ender's Shadow") into movie form for years and years... and scrapped it.
Sadness.
