I've recently been listening to Fang Island's self-titled debut album, which I greatly enjoy. However, no one seems to know about them. I searched and didn't find a thread about them, so I decided to make one.
Fang Island are what I would call a progressive indie rock band, and their facebook says Recess Rock, whatever that is. They describe their sound as "everyone high-fiving everyone," which is pretty accurate, since the album as a whole has a very victorious sound to it. A youtube comment on one of their songs states, "This song would be playing at the end of the movie* of my life, after I killed all the zombies, saved my best friends life, and won the heart of the girl of my dreams..."
I don't really care about the members of the band, but some of you might. The band members are
Jason Bartell - guitarist
Chris Georges - guitarist
Michael Jacober - bassist
Nicholas Andrew Sadler - guitarist
Marc St. Sauveur - drummer
They have 2 EP's, which I have not listened to yet. They are as follows:
2007 - "Day of the Great Leap"
2008 - "Sky Garden"
Earlier this year, they released their debut album on Sargent House.
Steve Lamacq of BBC music blog listed it in his top albums of 2010, stating "Born in a place where MGMT and Flaming Lips become overwhelmed by the spiritual power of 1970s metal riffage, Fang Island also provided one of the best gigs of the year at London's Old Blue Last."
Track Listing of "Fang Island"
"Dreams of Dreams" - 1:57

"Daisy" - 3:19

And finally, here are a few of their songs.

Hopefully this thread will get more people into this band. My apologies if the thread is a bit of a mess.
I like it! :buddy:
I've only listened to their full album but it's incredible... "the everyone high-fiving everyone" description is what made me check it out, and you're right it absolutely fits the mood of every song.
YES!
They are one of my most listened artists right now! I keep their album in my car and listen to it almost every day. They have got to be one of the most "feel good" artists out there.
I know man. I just listened to the whole album again. It feels great listening to it after 10 hours of pressure-washing heavy machinery in the cold.
Construction jobs suck.
