Go to the Zone they said. It'll be fun they said. Catch rare Pokemon they said.
Probably not as interesting to tour as Chernobyl, but it'd still be a cool experience. Curious way to advertise though I don't doubt it'll lure a ton of people.

Then he told me that hopefully the Japanese populace will turn into the x-men and have super powers from the radiation. Maybe its the special charm of the Japanese people that help to sell Japan as a tourist destination.
I recognize that bear on the left. Wasn't it real popular about a year or two ago?

Shouldn't they clean up the stuff people left behind first? I recall some urbex guy posting an imgur album which show that almost nothing was looted and there's a still a ton of shit left from people who fled.
Pokemon Uranium
So how long until they try to brand themselves as "the new Chernobyl" for those weird gasmask enthusiasts?
So how long until they try to brand themselves as "the new Chernobyl" for those weird gasmask enthusiasts?
They already have. All they need now is too get GSC to make STALKER 2
They definitely need the tourism and money to flow in that area. Even now when you go to area its been cleaned up but theres still a lot of construction thats going on and still needs to happen
I recognize that bear on the left. Wasn't it real popular about a year or two ago?
There was a Facepunch Photoshop contest thing a while back about it. https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1142611
I would be more inclined to spend tourist dollars there if they would let me visit the plant itself, honestly. PokeGo is so low on my interest scale that the needle doesn't even twitch, but the chance to tour a damaged NPP? I'll bite. And I'll bring my own geiger counter. And since any plans I may have had to tour Chernobyl and Pripyat are pretty much FUBAR for the forseeable future...
Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, TEPCO, reportedly had to request game developers to prevent Pokemon from spawning in radiation affected areas of Fukushima, to avoid drawing players into hazardous areas.
I really hope someone at Niantic was already working on this when they made the request, or the request was preemptively made as part of the initial negotiation offer and the wording just turned into "had to" somewhere between real life and this reporter. Because if Japan explicitly had to tell Niantic to section off Fukushima's exclusion zones after explicitly agreeing to deploy special PokeGo features in the safe areas, like they got beta builds and some dude in a car drove a decent ways into an exclusion zone and Pokemon still showed up, ummmwow, Niantic confirmed for being a living representation of the sociopathic corporation stereotype. I'd like to think that some cubicle dev was like, "guys, we need to section off the exclusion zones", but the question is what happened from there, because if he got told that there wasn't room for development time for that feature in this release but maybe in 3 months or something similar, as this story's phrasing would suggest would've happened to the hypothetical developer raising the issue, fuck they'd better apologize for this.
So is MewTwo gonna be at ground zero or something? :v:
So how long until they try to brand themselves as "the new Chernobyl" for those weird gasmask enthusiasts?
You don't have to use code words, everyone knows you're talking about Facepunch.
This is great news, once people actually visit and see that theres no real problem with the radiation itll promote rebuilding the area
So how long until they try to brand themselves as "the new Chernobyl" for those weird gasmask enthusiasts?
We're not weird and I'll fight you right now if you insist on it, you big bully. Respect my lifestyle choices!
This is great news, once people actually visit and see that theres no real problem with the radiation itll promote rebuilding the area
Thats something that pisses me off, as well as a lot of other Japanese off. While TEPCO did massively drop the fucking ball with Fukushima, it's not bad. There is infact, a MASSIVE anti-nuclear lobby here that uses Fukushima as propoganda for fear mongering. It's why you hear alot of negative stuff coming fram Japan in Western media saying shit like fallout was was possibly irradiating areas in the US, or making Fukushima sound like 'The Zone' or something.
I hope the evolution rate is faster in Fukushima
Only if I can catch a Bloodsucker, sorry guys.
