Trying to find non biased sources on this was hard. forgive me
Poland's new conservative euro-sceptic government has removed the European Union flag from its weekly press conference for Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, in a symbolic gesture that underscores the new regime's cooler relations with Brussels, and its more patriotic outlook.
http://www.ft.com/fastft/430461/poland-removes-eu-flag-amid-shift-nationalism
The shit going on here lately is fucking crazy, ever since PIS took the reigns. They're trying to get the country under their total control. Kaczyński basically is a wannabe Putin.
Well they did get absolute majority in the last election. I didn't even vote for them but that's how democracy works.
It's hard to blame anybody for removing the EU flag at the moment considering how badly we've fucked up with almost every decision. Good luck in your country, Poland. <3
Hopefully Poland does distance itself from the EU and perhaps even leaves it. They deserve autonomy after all this time.
Hopefully Poland does distance itself from the EU and perhaps even leaves it.
Hopefully Poland does distance itself from the EU and perhaps even leaves it. Poland has always had autonomy as an EU member. These guys are leading Poland down a dark path.

I just want to stress out that our new minister of environment believes in chemtrails [sp]and is also a climate change denier[/sp]
I think the general idea is that we're not citizens of European Union first but Polish people first. And that we want to remain Poland instead of being a state in EU.
And up the border control goes. GL Poland, wishing you the best!
As a Pole can't say I am disgusted. Eu had a lot of sense as a coallition against USSR, right now such institution is a tool for mad people (a small group of people) to introduce their strange ideas to real life and consequently regulate everything and everyone.
I think that out of all the things that are currently happening in poland the flag thing is the least interesting and important
Also our minister of defense got his shit hacked within like a month of his term. Some serious fucking competence right there.
...EU was kinda formed between 1993-2009 though. Perhaps include Schengen treaty, 1985. 1979 is European Parliament. Still, you are thinking of NATO. What bad is EU to you anyway?
The EU was founded in 1993, but its predecessors began very early into the cold war.
EU is fucked, because there paying Turkey loads emone to keep back the refugees while Turkey is blackmailing EU
Good, the less power the EU has, the better. Poland has absolutely no obligation beyond to it's people, to allow a institute that constantly works against peoples right to continue in your country is the absolute opposite of a governments obligation towards it's people.
Can you give me examples of how EU works against people's interests? I haven't got a clue and am just curious
Two words: Refugee Crisis
...EU was kinda formed between 1993-2009 though. Perhaps include Schengen treaty, 1985. 1979 is European Parliament. Still, you are thinking of NATO
By "EU" i also mean everything what this organization had been before 1993. A political agreement towards USSR. Well, answering Your second question: To me personally it haven't done anything. But I think it's a political machine which takes away the souverenity of countries. How independent is a country which has to obey rules given from other country? It makes countries change their constitution and law only for UE. An independent country which HAS TO, and not MAY do something because it will be punished with some economical sanction? Act of terror.
How is being pro-EU unpatriotic? This is something I've never understood about euro sceptics. Large GDP, immeasurable historic achievements, enormous potential for growth, and you really don't want to be a part of that? Seriously?
TBH for all its fuckups the EU is probably what made Poland not a shithole over the past decade. Not to mention PIS is full of madmen who are first to hide the EU flags, but surely first to reach our their hands for that union money.

After all, it only does give you a monthly wage several times higher than that of the president's.
They're also trying to ruin everything the previous party in power has done purely out of spite. It's a fucking disaster.
They're also trying to ruin everything the previous party in power has done purely out of spite. It's a fucking disaster.
It was fucking disaster decade ago. Now they are trying to find out how much can they fuck up before people actually revolt
Oh boy cant wait to read some polandball comics about this
Oh boy cant wait to read some polandball comics about this
Something about Polandball having cancer

There are notions about being a citizen of Europe before being a citizen of the actual country you're in and "forget about polish culture, we are all europeans now" etc. Old traditions are dying off and are replaced with new ones that came from the west. As an atheist I don't give a fuck about for instance halloween being absolutely haram to a christian but I can acknowledge that things are changing. If EU was only a big trade agreement (like it was at the beginning) there wouldn't be an issue about it being patriotic or not.
They're also trying to ruin everything the previous party in power has done purely out of spite. It's a fucking disaster.
Uhhh you want to list the achievements of the last ruling party? Because other than taking a big pile of money from EU I don't remember anything they've done right. I can give you a list of major fuck ups tho.

Disconnecting Poland from the European Union will not stop that and will instead sour relations between Poland and the rest of Europe.
