#2 toughest fighting style on "thats tough" on G4. What the fuck is Krav Maga? Krav Maga (in Hebrew that means "Hand-to-hand combat") is a hand-to-hand combat system originated in Israel by some bad ass named Imi Lichtenfeld. This kick ass fighting style was derived from street-fighting. This fighting style is so bad ass, the israeli army took it and used it to kick some major Nazi ass. If you were lucky Imi Lichtenfeld, himself, would teach you to rip some Nazi ass hole. Some crazy shit that looked important:
Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralisation, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression. Krav Maga is used by the IDF Special Forces units and several closely related variations have been developed and adopted by law enforcement and intelligence organizations, Mossad, Shin Bet, FBI, ATF, DEA, ICE, SWAT units of the NYPD and United States Special Operations Forces. There are several organizations teaching variations of Krav Maga internationally
What the fuck are the rules to this fighting style? Rules? Rules are for pussies. Which is exactly why this fighting style is so bad ass, because it has no rules! Its pretty much a defence mechanisim, used to keep the user safe. I don't know too many defence machanism's with rules. (ok, maybe a few) Example of what this looks like: (now that video may be completely fake, but its a good example of what Krav Maga look like.) History
Krav Maga was developed in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s by Imi Lichtenfeld, also known as Imi Sde-Or (Sde-Or–"Light Field"–a calque of his surname into Hebrew). He first taught his fighting system in Bratislava in order to help protect the local Jewish community from the Nazi militia. Upon arriving in the British Mandate of Palestine, Lichtenfeld began teaching Kapap to the Haganah, the Jewish underground army. With the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Lichtenfeld became the Chief Instructor of Physical Fitness and Krav Maga at the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) School of Combat Fitness. He served in the IDF for 15 years, during which time he continued to develop and refine his hand-to-hand combat method. In 1964 he left the military though continued to supervise the instruction of Krav Maga in both military and law-enforcement contexts, and in addition, worked indefatigably to refine, improve and adapt Krav Maga to meet civilian needs. The first students receiving a black belt 1st Dan were Eli Avikzar, Rafi Elgarisi, Haim Gidon, Haim Zut, Shmuel Kurzviel, Haim Hakani, Shlomo Avisira, Vicktor Bracha, Yaron Lichtenstein, Avner Hazan and Miki Asulin. In 1978, Lichtenfeld founded the non-profit Israeli Krav Maga Association (IKMA) with several senior instructors. The Israeli Krav Maga Association has existed continuously from that day and is still located in Netanya Israel. Grand Master Haim Gidon was elected President of the IKMA by an assembly and a vote of over twelve hundred members and still serves as President, Grand Master and 10th dan black belt. Imi Lichtenfeld died in January 1998 in Netanya, Israel. The Israeli Government has recognized the IKMA as the continuation of Imi Lichtenfeld's system. The Prime Minister of Israel recognized Grand Master Haim Gidon for his work in Krav Maga. Prior to his death, Imi Lichtenfeld published a list of his highest level students, their ranks and witnessed this document in the presence of a notary. Imi Lichtenfeld signed a notice that Grand Master Haim Gidon should be present at any student or instructor rankings of brown belt and above.
Sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krav_Maga (alright, maybe wikipedia isn't the most reliable source, but I found it pretty useful) http://www.kravmaga.com/
Oh Man I've been learning this. IT's is awesome
I've also found it pretty interesting but couldn't be arsed to find a place near me where I can learn it
All it is is fast movements to get the jump whoever's attacking you it seems
When I watched some billboard it had a ad for Krav Maga lessons, an my father told me it's like poking your enemies eyes, then punching them in the throat while kneeing the fuck out of them.
Because Israel was badass in the first place ? Anyway, Krav Maga is awesome.
This looks similar to Muay Thai style fighting used in the MMA except you don't continue to beat the shit out your opponent when their incapacitated.
I thought teaching this to a civilian was illegal.
Krav Maga is pretty interesting and extremely powerful. Though the title makes it seem Krav Maga is just the icing to Israel's "badassness", I wouldn't consider defying human rights as badass at all (only Krav Maga should be attributed to that).
All civilians can be taught Krav-maga.

I was thinking "Just when you thought Israel couldn't get any more fucking crazy" It looks cool, but one of the more psychotic martial arts.
I was thinking "Just when you thought Israel couldn't get any more fucking crazy" It looks cool, but one of the more psychotic martial arts.
more like one of the actually useful in the real world martial arts. but yeah, I wasn't aware that israel was badass at all.
I used to learn this. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline] It's all about killing/permanently and severly injuring your enemy. [editline]31st January 2011[/editline] Usually crippling them too.
What a coincidence, I just learned about it for the first time yesterday and was reading about it.
The one thing people should realize is that the firearm/knife disarming maneuvers aren't very useful at all in real life situations. There's a reason why the disarms they do are all choreographed. Countless stories have arisen from many different self-defense martial arts, including Krav Maga, that talked about the knife disarming they do and how it is ineffective. Stories about how a kid with no experience is given a plastic knife with some kind of ink on it that rubs off and is told to take stabs at the most experienced masters. The kid was able to hit the guy in fatal spots pretty much every time. Krav Maga is a great unarmed combat technique. In hand to hand combat, you could wreck someone's shit with Krav Maga and/or a handful of other martial arts. However, don't be suckered in by the appeal of being able to turn someone's knife/gun around on them in the blink of an eye, things just don't happen like that. It is taught to armies and special forces teams in order to promote extreme fitness and tactical awareness during combat (as Krav Maga emphasizes using the environment to your advantage), not so they can go around killing armed enemies with their bare hands.
I was thinking "Just when you thought Israel couldn't get any more fucking crazy" It looks cool, but one of the more psychotic martial arts.
afaik krav maga is more useful than most martial arts because it's mostly easier and more practical than many others like taekwondo where you have to be pretty skilled to actually use it on the street.
Been looking at this lately, this is no bullshit martial arts.
This looks similar to Muay Thai style fighting used in the MMA except you don't continue to beat the shit out your opponent when their incapacitated.
What? It's literally nothing like Muay Thai.
What? It's literally nothing like Muay Thai.
It has elements of Muay Thai, specifically combinations involving the knee, such as when an opponent throws the basic 1-2 combination (jab, followed by a straight) in which you deflect the first strike, grab the wrist of the second as you deflect it and pull them toward you as you drive your knee into their chest/stomach. What I can't believe is how people watch videos of Krav Maga and thing it's the most amazingly awesome shit in the world despite most videos being obviously choreographed. I'd like to see a video where a guy legitimately defends himself from armed attackers that aren't doing predetermined attacks.
since when was isreal badass??? lmao
since when was isreal badass??? lmao
Yeah they're full of whiny assholes with a persecution complex who like to suckle the USA's teet, but military service is mandatory, which makes every single person in the country over 18 years old a tough, well trained fighter.
Meanwhile in Russia the great martial arts class is taking place.
There's actually a Krav Maga instructor/school near my actual school, so I plan on heading there this week and checking out how much it is.
they keep getting back up what use is it
nvm cofnued myself
Been practicing this almost all my life(Dad was a martial arts teacher), probably the most ruthless fighting style I've ever seen, which is logical, since it's not designed to be showy or flashy, it's designed to take down the enemy in as few strikes as possible.
To all those who say they weren't aware that Israel was badass: When Israel first became a country, every Muslim country in the middle east (except Saudi Arabia) immediately declared war on them. In addition to several professional armies, a militia was formed of hundreds of thousands of Arabs trying to kill the Jews. Israel didn't have an army, they took on 6 professional armies on by themselves, and kicked all their asses.
It's interesting to note that during this war most of Israel's military equipment was stuff that was made in Nazi Germany and a lot of the rifles still had swastika markings on them.
That was on purpose, because all Israelis are Nazis in exile, in reality the Nazis killed all the Jews and to get away with it the Germans put themselves in concentration camps and formed Israel. It all makes sense, since Israel is full of Nazis, and that they are systematically killing all Muslims in Palestine, they must be Nazis in exile. However, there is only one fault in my theory. Only a sneaky Jew could pull such a plot.
