The Six Million Dollar Man, this TV Show was a hit back in the 80s, dwarfing many of the other shows, its still popular today. Based on the novel Cyborg, It follows the life of Steve Austin (Lee Majors), a former X-10 Test Pilot injured in the line of duty in a near fatal crash, when he is "Rebuilt" into the "World's first Bionic Man", having cost around six million dollars (thus the title), he immediately starts working for the Office of Strategic Intelligence (OSI), lead by Oscar Goldman, Steve's Mentor.
TV Movies (the Movies you saw as Pilot episodes):

I saw a commercial for the DVD box set of this show on TV last night. It really confused me. It wasn't just advertising that the box set exists, it was one of those "CALL IN THE NEXT 20 MINUTES" 1-800 number commercials. Most shows don't get a commercial at all when they're released on DVD, but this one's really different.
I always thought the way they did the effects was genius.
Here you are in the 70s, you don't have the technology to do realistic superfast running even if you have the budget, and yet you have a human character who can run 60mph, how do you do it?
You show him running in slow motion! He runs slow when he runs fast. Awesome!
The Bigfoot episodes are the best. Back in the 70s Bigfoot was the shit, and they figured out a way to work him into a sci-fi tv show. Tv writers just don't have that kind of imagination anymore.
I used to make that sound effect as a kid this brings back memories haha.American TV shows in the 90's for us were just syndicated 70s/80s shows. This and Dukes of Hazzard were staple 2pm viewing for me.

LOL, I remember some shows reused that "Wnanananana!"/Bionic Activation sound effect as a slow-motion sound in their shows.
I just watched "What's America worth", which was hosted by Donald Trump.
There's a reference of this in that show. Turns out each of us worth about 64 Millions Dollars

Yeah, Life Magazine had remastered the complete series and put it on DVD and are advertising it, why not? they put advertisements on everything from the old days they recovered and remastered.
