did he find the freeman or is he still looking??
did he find the freeman or is he still looking??
spoiler: He was never hunting Freeman in the first place, he was actually after some Black Ops cunt who stole a HEV suit who then later befriends you in some cutscene Jim didn't show, who you kill at the end in a cutscene
Did he pull a DSP and not know how to crouchjump?
Did he pull a DSP and not know how to crouchjump?
"I saw someone do it easily, so I know it's possible" Hunt Down the Freeman, featuring bugged jumping mechanics.
Did he pull a DSP and not know how to crouchjump?
To be fair, you gotta learn how to crouchjump, and while Black Mesa actually has tutorials on how to do that, HTDF isn't exactly the game I would trust with teaching these basics.
Did he pull a DSP and not know how to crouchjump?
That doesn't make any sense, because he crouch jumps in the beginning when hes leading the conga line of zombies down the corridor before he learns he can prone
Wish he'd play through the entire game, there's a lot of things that absolutely had to be mentioned but since he stopped so early it was just glossed over.
That doesn't make any sense, because he crouch jumps in the beginning when hes leading the conga line of zombies down the corridor before he learns he can prone
The first object can be jumped on without crouching, the second seems to be more erratic and a stroke of luck from using crouch alongside jump trying to escape the zombie. It wouldn't surprise me one bit he forgot or simply doesn't know the concept of crouch jumping, it's basically non existent in modern games.
Did he pull a DSP and not know how to crouchjump?
then again, HL1 has a tutorial level that teaches you how to do it
It's probably a part that might require the parkour system in the game, which requires you to holster your weapon.
It's worth nothing that unlike many source mods, Half Life 2 and its episodes can be played to completion without crouch-jumping, which is why the game doesn't bother teaching you the mechanic. Orange Box was the first game I ever got on Steam, and I didn't know what crouch-jumping was for years after first playing through Half-Life 2. It was only when I downloaded Black Mesa that I had to learn how to do it, as there's at least a couple of platforming segments where crouch jumping is mandatory.
I could be mistaken, but I think HL2 since the engine update has auto crouch jump.

Crouch Jumping itself always bothered me from a gameplay standpoint. I mean for "climbing" into a vent, it makes sense because the vent is too small for you to stand in, so you have to jump and crouch to "simulate" climbing in, but for a normal fucking knee high obstacle it makes little sense. In the classic Thief games, you could hold space to grab the edge and hoist yourself up. I always thought that made more sense than having to "JumpDuck" to avoid setting off a tripmine or climb a concrete barrier. I'm only really complaining because it just feel kind of awkward. In other games you USUALLY don't have to Jump Crouch, and even in Half Life it's something you do rarely, so for new players, it's not uncommon to get stuck there. Granted the HL1 Hazard Course teaches you how to jump duck, but still.

I never understood why people have so much trouble with duck jumping, I guess it helps to have grown up playing Half Life. I subconsciously try crouch jumping in every FPS
I could be mistaken, but I think HL2 since the engine update has auto crouch jump.
it doesn't
Guys it's not crouch jump he was having problem with, you literally have to go prone. You know, lying on your stomach. He's never seen that in a source game before.
Guys it's not crouch jump he was having problem with, you literally have to go prone. You know, lying on your stomach. If you're not keeping track of the HDTF megathread in the Valve subforum, I think it should be noted here that we found the unwrap of a male's privates in the texture used on several different children models in the game. "materials/models/protagonists/kidmitchell/KidMitchell_Hands_Diff.vtf" This exact texture alongside of including the arms, head, face, legs, ect also includes parts for a male penis and ballsack, and let me repeat that this texture is for the male children in cutscenes. Yeeeeeeah.
alyx was of age at least
Yeah, but I'm tempted to just say they just lifted it from somewhere or something without knowing or thinking it was going to be used on a kid, and then whoever put it in just didn't pay any attention. Alyx's vagina was definitely intentional.
Guys it's not crouch jump he was having problem with, you literally have to go prone. You know, lying on your stomach. He's never seen that in a source game before.
Last I checked the game doesn't tell you that you can/how to go prone. So unless you checked bindings you'd assume they just fucked up the level design, which given the rest of the mod wouldn't be a shocker.
Yeah, but I'm tempted to just say they just lifted it from somewhere or something without knowing or thinking it was going to be used on a kid, and then whoever put it in just didn't pay any attention. All it shows is that they could not be assed to take the literal 3 seconds to look at their textures and go "holy fuck this texture for a child has a penis in it" and fix it.

My question is about which is worse though: zero effort that lets something creepy get in the game, or very intentional effort to put something creepy in the game. Being lazy and dumb is one thing, but being a creepy pervert and putting that in your game on purpose is a different thing. I'd like to think even Frank would have wanted it removed had he or anyone else actually put in a vague amount of effort.
That doesn't make any sense, because he crouch jumps in the beginning when hes leading the conga line of zombies down the corridor before he learns he can prone
wait why would you need to prone in a game like this? why would the devs add that feature?
Guys it's not crouch jump he was having problem with, you literally have to go prone. You know, lying on your stomach. It doesn't help that the game inexplicably has a heavily-scripted parkour system that probably wouldn't even bother to work with this correctly or auto-crouchjump over, either.
it doesn't
Yeah it does, at least it does when trying to jump into vents. There is a vent in Route Canal that I jumped into without having to hold crouch.
