That was President Vladimir Putin's message on Friday, the same day a British government source claimed that Russian troops had significantly ratcheted up their military incursion into Ukraine.
Moscow doesn't want or intend to wade into any "large-scale conflicts," Putin insisted at a youth forum, state-run Itar-Tass reported. A few breaths later, he made the point that Russia is "strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces and our armed forces," making them more efficient and modernized.
"I want to remind you that Russia is one of the most powerful nuclear nations," the President said. "This is a reality, not just words."
He later warned, "We must always be ready to repel any aggression against Russia and (potential enemies) should be aware ... it is better not to come against Russia as regards a possible armed conflict."

Jesus, he looks like a Bond villain.
"Let us invade other peaceful countries because we have nukes."
Russia really needs to be slapped down but I can't see how anyone could do it.

I am pretty sure that's a doctored photo. Still spooky tho.
So basically if you have nukes you can do whatever the fuck you want because deterrence?
Czar Putin's been playing too much Civ V.
Disgusting despotic piece of shit.
Putin and his inner circle of chums are what need to be slapped down.
Unfortunately they won't go down without severe casualties inflicted and received. Welcome to dictatorships.
Nuclear armed dictatorships.
COLD WAR 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO

Or a pasty looking version of Daniel Craig.

But on to a serious note, FUCK PUTIN. Millions of people could dies from a nuclear war and mankind would be pushed back into the stone age. If I were him, I would not talk so lightly about nuclear weapons.
"I want to remind you that Russia is one of the most powerful nuclear nations," the President said. "This is a reality, not just words."
As if this means anything, no-one would ever use Nukes unless they were used against them. Russia is a power in decline that maintains it's influence solely through aging military might and a grip on volatile natural resources, Russia has no friends on the international stage and a weak economy with colossal poverty.
If only it were possible to outright disable nuclear weapons without detonation. If one were to hypothetically accomplish that.. But too many risks, way too many factors that would have to conveniently happen like a goddamn Call of Duty game to even consider accomplish that. Once someone starts bringing in nuclear arms as mentions to their strong-arming tactics, it's pretty clear they're on their aggressive and destructive path to claiming glory for themselves, human lives be damned in the process.
Highly sensationalist title. I recommend you to read the article itself, it is mostly internal politics crap, done in order to assure citizens that they are "well defended" against West.
He is still an authoritarian ruler with questionable plans and actions, though.

Russia has an incredibly influence over the people that live there via tightly controlled media.
I don't think it would be a great task for Russia to move into a war-ready state.

Doesn't mean anything. Russia will never go to war with the West and so have literally no way of actually doing any real harm to the West. While the West can put enormous economic pressure on Russia and pretty much destroy their economy if it wanted. Military might counts for very little in the modern world when you can't use it.
Oh boy:

At this point it might aswell be :v:
Damn, what I wouldn't do to to know what intelligence agencies are doing.
I can't wait to see Ukraine beat back Russia. They'll be a laughing stock.
I KNEW IT!
I KNEW PUTIN WOULD WAVE HIS NUKES AROUND TO SCARE US OUT.
I FUCKING GOD DAMN KNEW IT, THOSE ASSHOLES.

Except that you've failed to notice one crucial detail: They're taking Ukraine, regardless of Sanctions. This means that Russia is not going to back down even if it screws over their economy. If America steps in, they don't care. They'll have nothing to lose over this considering how willingly they have gone into, and continue into, the sanctions. They have a military might, and they don't care about their economy. From the perspective of Putin Russia has nothing to lose and everything to gain by destroying their "enemy".

yes indeed it was, some really nice cinematography as well in the single player campaign. Compared to Wargame, WiC has more of a story but Wargame has a much larger scale of operations and many more units available

I didn't know it was 1991.
None of this is even remotely true, but whatever makes you sleep better at night.
