David Cameron is holding an audience with the Queen at Buckingham Palace as campaigning for the general election gets officially under way.
The prime minister is meeting the sovereign for the final time before polling day on 7 May as other party leaders hit the campaign trail.
Mr Cameron will later tell voters that they face a "stark choice" between him and Labour's Ed Miliband.
The Labour leader said the Tories posed a clear "danger" to UK firms.

In other key developments on Monday:
- Deputy Prime Minister and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg said his party would occupy the "reasoned centre ground" during the campaign
- UKIP leader Nigel Farage said his party was the "radical choice" as he prepared to outline the party's main election pledges
- Both Welsh Labour and Welsh Conservatives launch their campaigns
- The Green Party of England and Wales said it was offering a "message of hope" while The Green Party of Scotland launched its manifesto, including a pledge of a £10 minimum wage
- Former Lib Dem MP Mike Hancock has said he will stand as an independent in Portsmouth South
None of these are people I want as PM.
I don't like any of them, and there's no "I want to complain" option on the voting slips.
Typical, the first time I'm able to vote in a general election as well. I mean I'm still going to vote, but I've no fucking clue who for.

Newman that is.
You could always spoil your ballot or cast a blank vote

I admire the fact you're aware the choice is piss, but you're still intending to vote. Don't think me patronising, I just think that's a good attitude to have.
I'll probably vote clegg
Here we go again...
I wouldn't be surprised if this general election isn't the first one this year.
I think I'd vote Conservative, I don't like them at all but I just can't get behind Labour at the moment, I think they more time to regroup after the last fiasco. The only reason I'd vote tory is because the economy has improved and is one of the best in Europe at the moment.
what a grim time to be voting
I feel like I am being offered a selection of century eggs to eat.
All options are crap.

This attitude gave Australia Abbott..
Probably going to vote Labour, I absolutely despise the Tories and the recent program on Channel 4 make me hate them even more. They just pander to the tabloid press and don't seem to do much else.
A "best of a bad bunch" scenario.

Yeah, because channel 4 totally don't have a left wing bias at all.

Facepunch Island is finally happening
None of these are people I want as PM.
Pressure your party into having a leadership shake up then.

Isle of Newman.
It's annoying because I am semi-left wing. I love a lot of the lib dems policies, but they also have their stupid social justice warrior side too. As much as I want to vote for them to finally remove our pants on head retarded drugs policies and stop destroying the NHS like the tories have, I also DON'T want to vote for them for some of their other stupid ideas like the "wage gap" which doesn't exist...
The best would be a minority government of lab/con/lib tbh, but they would never get anything done since all politicians are stuck up on their public appearance. They wouldn't vote for other party policies since it would make them appear like a traitor to their party, and they are all too scared to actual pass any laws that contradict what all the middle class middle aged voters think.
Remember, kids: If you don't like any of the options, either choose the least worst or cast a blank/ spoilt ballot! Not turning up to vote just makes it easier for the parties you hate to win!

There's a low chance of any one left-wing party getting in, since there are 4 of them. My advice is vote for your personal favourite and hope for a coalition.

Don't suppose you happen to know if there is a place where you can find a TL;DR of the running parties and their policies? I haven't googled yet but will when I hit this post button...

The Telegraph has a decent summary for the main parties, but be warned that they have a Tory bias.
[editline]30th March 2015[/editline]
However, the facts they give are pretty good, as long as you try to ignore the fact that they attempt to make Labour look really really bad and the Tories look as good as possible.

Party manifestos will be released in a week or two, that's when the parties lay out all their proper policies and promises
I wonder who will be the new MP for my area seeing as the guy who's been it for 14 years or something is standing down. Is there an easy place to check this kind of stuff?
I can't wait until Smurfy replaces that guy who walks up and down on the BBCs fancy graphics on the election results
The worst part is when you're voting for the opposition just because you don't like the current govt. And imagine if Nigel Farage actually wins
where is russell brand

What does spoiling your vote do? If there's enough does it enable a re-election type thing?
What does spoiling your vote do? If there's enough does it enable a re-election type thing?
spoiling your vote means they don't count you the end
spoiling your vote means they don't count you the end
So what's the difference between not voting and spoiling your vote? Sorry if this sounds dumb.
So what's the difference between not voting and spoiling your vote? Sorry if this sounds dumb.
If there is a significant enough quantity of spoilt or blank votes, they will take it into consideration. However, they do not take the amount of non-voters into consideration. That's the difference.
[editline]30th March 2015[/editline]
Last election, 34% of registered voters didn't show up, and less than 1% spoilt their votes.
where is russell brand
he knows he wouldn't stand a fucking chance
as that ukip plant said in his interview; it is far too easy to criticize the system when you aren't part of the system
