Well, You can get shot very easy if the enemy team sees you.. You are basically dead because the only mid-range you have is a pistol, and that is very shitty.
So basically, Flamethrower is the ultimate CQC weapon.

also blocks your enemy from seeing you.

Well aren't you the Rising Storm pro.

The second flame starts spitting is the second everyone looks for the guy with an oversized backpack.

an orgy of some kind

The developers are calling it "asymmetrical warfare." I haven't been able to get into the beta but, essentially, the allies have all kinds of superior auto and semi-auto weaponry (also of cult fame like the Garand and Thompson) so they decided to give each side plenty of quirky advantages. The Japanese can banzai charge and lay booby traps, for example.
I played with you a few times lol.

and then you realize most every gun can kill somebody in 1 bullet from tens of meters away without getting up close.

wow, it's like i'm really a world war II veteran with ptsd!
woah is this a video game?
They should at least give keys away to people with R02. Want to play this desperately.

no
Makes me think of this

So this game is basicly: Kill it with Fire!: The game.
the problem I have with it is that you die instantly if you get hit, you have no time to react

More realistic than most shooters, I like it.

You got to remember that the Japanese also get land mines(like bouncing betties but in grenade form) a very powerful Banzai charge and that the flamethrower is probably going to be 1 guy in a 32 player team.
And that most guns(like earlier said) also do that, most of the times you are dead.
The Japanese also got the hand mortar.
It's fucking awesome.

I don't know how else they would do it if they wanted to do it realistically.
The M2 Flamethrower doesn't shoot pressurized gas and then ignite it, it shoots a long stream of liquid fuel. If it's ignited and it hits you, it will cling to your body and immolate you until there's nothing left to burn. If you come into contact with the stream there's really no way around it; if it doesn't kill you outright you're probably looking at amputations. Regardless, you're out of the fight.
The rising storm devs wanted to create an atmosphere of asymmetrical warfare. I'm glad they're not just cutting potentially fun content like flamethrowers in the name of perfect balance; traditional wargames seek to portray battles as they occurred (instead of in a balanced manner for gaming purposes) so that the player is given the opportunity to see if he can influence the tide of history with his own decisions, why can't some shooters and other action games reflect this as well? If the game has a historical setting but goes out of its way to balance an often unbalanced occurrence (warfare), isn't it no more than a purely aesthetic decision?
More realistic than most shooters, I like it.
I'd prefer something where you bleed out, so if you've got a pistol out you can do a badass last stand, maybe get healed by a medic before you die completely then get back in the fight etc.
btw when did they give up adding tanks and vehicles to RO2?
So disappointing when you compare it to the amount of post-release content on RO1.

Then play cod or battlefield, this game ain't forgiving.

Well yeah, the amount of required time for developing content for RO2 went into the skies though, RO1's general level of content quality was so much lower.
They did however shoot themselves in the foot a bit with the tanks.

That would destroy part of what's so central in RO2/RS though, if you don't need to be as careful then it wouldn't be the same game.

Theres already a last stand mode.
Your vision slowly darkens and you can empty your clip/magazine before you bleed out
