Combined with a slightly improving economy and unemployment numbers, Newt is forced to find a new irrelevant grievance with which to manipulate susceptible Republican voters. Appearing at a campaign event in the pudgy prevaricator’s home state of Georgia ( a state he’s likely to lose), Gingrich, ever the masterful manipulator, essentially blamed President Obama for soaring gas prices while simultaneously appealing to Georgians fondness for books guns.
“You can’t put a gun rack on a Volt,” said Gingrich, referring to high gas prices potentially forcing gun enthusiasts to purchase Chevy Volts. “There is no reason not to believe that we couldn’t stabilize with American production by drowning demand in supply the old-fashioned, free market way,” explained Newt. “There’s not reason we couldn’t have a stable price around $2 or $2.50 [per gallon].”
Newt appears to be subscribing to the same miserably inaccurate GOP talking point that former presidential candidate Michele Bachmann did; that is, the misguided belief that the President somehow controls, or can control, the price of gas. Even Fox News’ Chris Wallace was dubious of Newt’s promise to increase oil production
“You can’t guarantee $2.50 a gallon,” Wallace explained “You can’t guarantee anything,” Gingrich agreed. “But you can guarantee that under the Obama plan, there’s going to be less American production, higher prices.”
[/release]
This thing looks like a James Bond car. I wouldn't be surprised if a Gatling gun popped from under the hood.
He speaks the truth. were else am I gonna keep Ol'betty? at home?

GOD DAMN FAG CAR!
I admit it. I did modify the original headline.
All cars should now be rated by their capability for carrying a gun rack, it truly is the best system.
Someone should buy a Volt and replace the passenger seat with a gun rack just to prove him wrong.
Thought he actually said it was for faggots. Wouldn't be surprised considering it's Newt Gingrich. Also wouldn't alternative energy increase American production because a lot of it isn't outsourced?

What are you, some kind of Islamic Commie Terrorist lover?
I dunno what he's on about, that thing is just begging to have the glass chopped out of the roof and a machine gun cupola stuck on there.
The Volt is a sweet little ride, and I figure that people are crafty enough with a shitty welding job to mount some gun racks on this bad boys.
That car looks great, Newt is a moron.
Ok, enough fucking around. Let's actually listen to him.

So what Newt's saying is that in Obama's (presumably 2013) budget he is giving incentives to people to buy green cars. He seems to imply that since these people already make $170,000 a year they don't need the incentive, and also implies that since gun racks are somehow not compatible with the Volt, Obama is trying to restrict the 2nd Amendment. He then says "Visit my website because I've solved everything." I'd like to point out that in my state it's illegal to drive with guns in your car unless you are making a beeline from point A to point B. (You can't stop at a McDonald's with a shotgun in the back)
I seen one of these things hauling ass down the interstate the other day. Neat looking car, though I've heard mixed reviews on it's reliability.
If only we could follow that super pac money. [editline]20th February 2012[/editline] I could also link the fox nation article and some comments if you guys want.

He's actually saying that the people don't want to drive these cars anyways, because they don't serve their needs (like holding all of their guns and burning an excessive amount of gas).
Look how small that audience is. This guy is not getting elected, stop talking about him. He's just a silly old bastard with no presentation.
I don't understand how you came to that conclusion.
Did you even listen to it? Newt is basically saying that the people don't want to drive these cars anyways, because they don't fit their need to hold all their guns etc. He's essentially implying that Obama is detached from the people. At least that's the only real point that I could draw out of that statement, I don't really see what else he could be saying

And yeah, people who have a strong need to have a gun rack hauled around at all times obviously wont buy a compact.
wow what a piece of shit
newt should have said that Obama will ban gun racks in the Chevy Volt and bought shares in General Motors and gun rack manufacturers, he'd be as rich as Mitt Romney worked for the rest of the gun industry when obama was elected
I... Um... What? This is actually a thing? People actually mount gun racks in their cars? Isn't that a little misguided? What happens when you want to go in someplace, and you park your car? Someone can just walk up and start pulling guns off your roof. Guns are expensive, why would you place them in a rack on top of your car? But I guess this is what happens when you live in a country where politicians are facades generated by statistics and vote counts. You're bound to have a lot of idiots smashing their faces open on issues above their comprehension. What bothers me is that we actually elect these people.

Most Americans don't actually own a gun you know.
Are you suggesting we ban gun racks?
Of course not... I'm just wondering why any gun-toting conservative would go through so much effort to be so remarkably... unconservative in their gun-toting methods.
I... Um... What? This is actually a thing? People actually mount gun racks in their cars?
Well, here in Wisconsin a lot of people carry guns everywhere now. You don't need a gun rack for a .44 though. :P
gingrich has too many chins for his own good
