• I want to start bulking and then cutting but don't have a plan. Where do I start?

Hey guys, I really want to start lifting and maybe doing some cardio too. I recently went from about 245 lbs to 220 lbs just from refraining from drinking soda and drinking tons of water and green tea when I wanted a sweet beverage. I also started eating more veggies and less processed foods. There's also ample chicken and tuna in my diet now. I also quit smoking, which has helped my attitude a lot. So yay me. However, I'm still "soft" and I feel really weak and have for a while. I want to find a good workout routine to do about 3-4 days a week starting as I'm pretty busy with school right now. There's way too many resources on the internet for me to distinguish what's good and what's junk. If you could help me find a routine and give me some pointers that would be awesome. I still have belly fat and I'm losing some fat around my pecs, but I would like to bulk up some while I still have that fat to work with. I don't know if I'm supposed to cut first and then bulk or the opposite. I've been eating around 2000 calories per day and that has helped immensely in my weight loss. Anyways, here's the available stats: Age: 20 Weight: 223 lbs Height: 6' 4" I'm a pretty broad guy in the first place, and have some natural muscle tone that still manages to show through my softer regions. I figure it wouldn't take much to start bulking up a bit. I just have gym anxiety honestly. I don't have any friends at my university that are able to use the gym at the same time that I'd be free to go so I don't have a buddy to relieve that anxiety. All of my other friends in town don't have access to the gym since they aren't students. I'd be fine by myself, but I just am afraid of making an ass of myself and making sure that I'm doing proper technique. I'm quite weak for my size, so I'm gonna feel like a puss at first I know, but I'll get past that. I just need some guidance as to what I need to be doing in the gym every day and what I need to be eating. Thanks FP.
Don't quote me on it but I think generally, cutting and bulking is for when you've actually been working out for a long time and want to go beyond only lifting weights. For someone that's beginning just focus on lifting weights, there's a few programs out there that are really good for beginners, I think 5x5 Stronglift is a beginner program though you might want to wait on people a bit more knowledgeable for this one.
I swear theres a topic covering this at the top of the forum... maybe ive just been getting fucked too hard
tbh i'd cut (lose weight) first before you bulk (gain weight). OP you do realise that bulking doesnt just increase muscle mass it also increases bodyfat

Google how to cut weight (what to eat, what not to eat.) I think you can do the same workout, but fat burning is the main type of workout.

You cut bodyfat regardless of what you're doing... it's a daily process called Catabolism and Anabolism. Simply put, the taking out and putting in calories a.k.a homoeostasis.

even if you're not a lazy sloth, you will gain bodyfat. I was being pedantic, it was aimed at Heigou's comment yet served as a general statement for all. also, what the fuck were you trying to say with that analogy?
wat is goin on here
i was trying to say that your statement of "You cut bodyfat regardless of what you're doing" doesn't make sense. if your daily caloric load exceeds that of what your body burns, then you're going to gain bodyfat my analogy was that of your statement including "regardless of what you're doing", ie your body isnt going to use body fat as energy when it already has energy in the form of food being delivered to you unless you literally mean on the molecular scale then yes you will lose body fat at negligible amounts throughout the day but gain it back as well if you're eating more than you burn
hey these guys are dumb . post a pic of yourself shirtless for some real protips
go away caysus you make us all whimper with your knowledge
