Some of you might remember me from the 80's and 70's thread. I'm back and ready for more music with the BEST (Piss off now if you don't like them) band from the 70's and 80's
DURAN DURAN
Duran Duran are a five member banned from Hollywood (A suburb outside Birmingham, England) Originally, the band was only John Taylor and Nick Rhodes, but as they began to play more, they began to earn more members, eventually ending up with Roger Taylor, Simon Le Bon and Andy Taylor. Their first song that they made together was "Girls on Film" and they sent this off to a record company, earning their first released single. Gradually, they became more and more pop-like and they ended up as Teen Icons. Their other songs from around the same years are "Is their anyone out there?" and "Planet Earth". Duran Duran's most famous album is probably Rio as it inspired many other musicians to write new songs. They went on to release singles like "Notorious" and "The reflex" But then, at the height of their fame, tragedy struck. Simon Le Bon hit a false note at their biggest concert ever, Live Aid, which was viewed by 2 billion people. Prior to this, the band had many disputes about various things. That note pulled them apart and they didn't perform again.
One day, Simon Le Bon came to John Taylor about a reform of the original line up. Taylor agreed and they called lawyers and asked for the original line up. In 2004, they played a sold out gig in Wembly arena. They began to experiment with new sounds and come up with their new album All You Need is Now

Oh also, this band inspired me to play bass- John Taylor is FUCKING EPIC AT IT
"they called lawyers" what the hell this is the most insane OP I have ever read.
poor man's Japan tbh
Some of their stuff is good, some is bad. I wouldn't call it the "best band" or "band for everyone" though. Kinda an acquired taste.
In an ideal world duran duran would not exist and japan would have replaced them
Duran Duran Duran is bettur
