If Bernie Sanders were president, he wouldn’t be as naive about compromise as President Barack Obama.
At least that’s what the Vermont senator told David Axelrod on the former Obama adviser’s first episode of his podcast “The Axe Files with David Axelrod.”
Sanders said that after a “brilliant campaign,” Obama made a mistake by expecting that he could easily negotiate with the other party.
“He thought he could walk into Capitol Hill and the Oval Office and sit down with John Boehner and Mitch McConnell and the Republicans and say, ‘I can’t get it all. You can’t get it all. Let’s work out something that’s reasonable,’ because he’s a reasonable guy. He’s a pretty rational guy,” Sanders said. “These guys never had any intention of doing [serious] negotiating and compromising. … I think it took the president too long to fully appreciate that.”
Hopefully Bernie can use the media to force through his legislation.
This makes sense. Obama was still pretty new to politics when he became president. I hope Sanders makes it because he's a pro.
Sanders is already our best president and he hasn't even been elected
If he thinks Obama had it rough from the Republicans just imagine how cutthroat and uncompromising they'd be if Sanders won. Sanders presidency won't mean shit if Democrats can't get control of Congress.

Perhaps he'd break the record on the most Vetos.

My hope is that we'll see a revitalization of what used to be the Occupy Wall Street movement from a few years ago. If the Democrats can't control Congress and actually get anything done on behalf of Sanders, then the people are just going to have to go to Washington and make sure it gets done as "enforcers" if you will.
It's a real shame we don't see any million man marches anymore, or any intimidation tactics on behalf of the people to accomplish what needs to be accomplished in this country. The Occupy Movement kind of got that way for a while, they were organized and motivated, but they never got anything done in the end. All they did was take out their anger and their frustration briefly, mildly inconvenience some folks, and then everyone went home.
It's a shame too, because if you really want to motivate leaders to get something done and get that something done fast, nothing works much better than an angry, violent mob of people coming for their leaders. It's not rebellion, just intimidation. And the really unfortunate thing about the Occupy Movement to me (apart from all that wasted potential and energy) is that they had some very noble goals; universal healthcare, student tuition reforms and education reforms, they wanted the minimum wage to be increased, for government to pursue corrupt corporations and business individuals, etc. If only they'd been more organized and fanatical.

Occupy was shit, they had no stated goals or political ideology. It became a big camp for hipsters and uninformed idiots to sit around in a drum circle and chant "we are the 99%". I think intimidating the government is dangerous business. I don't trust any mob that gets together and decides that it's going to be the voice of the people and swarm into DC just to intimidate people.

Or the most impactful Executive Orders.

They did a good job at raising awareness about the issue though.

I think Occupy made us look worse, because it just made us look like a bunch of goddamn idiots more than anything.

FDR was Americas greatest president. Perhaps Bernie could beat him out.

Well for one, Bernie isn't going to intern an entire ethnic group.

You might be thinking of the wrong Roosevelt there

in the last month alone the biomedical industry lost all of its stock gain this year because 1 company made news for being an unbridled beacon of pure capitalism

Teddy was exceptional as well. However he didn't have a crisis to deal with.
If his Progressive Party had won he may have become the greatest.
Occupy was shit because it was a small and (for lack of a better word) extremist portion of the 99% that did not fully represent the opinions of the 99% and failed to put forth any of our concerns in a meaningful and constructive way.
In reality, while most of us definitely don't like the gap between the 99 and 1 percents, we also don't really care enough to want immediate change, which is what the occupiers essentially wanted. We're all mostly content with our lives, and we probably wouldn't mind a slow and sweeping reform over constantly whining at the government to "change things now!!!"
Of course, it also doesn't help that a lot of the occupiers weren't exactly the best representatives of the "struggle of the 99%" either. Talking about how unfair it is that the 1% have so much money while browsing away on their Macbooks and drinking Starbucks.
As for my opinion on Bernie, my support only seems to be growing stronger for him. Makes me fear that he'll become the chosen candidate for the Democratic party, only to have some deep and dark secret revealed to the world that ruins everything. And seeing how Trump is really the only candidate on the Republican side that most care about, that doesn't bode well at all if that becomes reality...

The problem was that it as being lead/organized by a bunch of hipsters out for attention.
Why the hell did they choose a person named "tomato" or something to be their spokesperson?

He probably wouldn't have entered.

Hopefully. But if Bernie manages to get into the White House, I can see most of his stuff getting shut down like nothing. Which upsets me, Bernie has some great ideas but with the way government is right now, I don't see most of them pushing through. But who knows, if he wins, only time will tell, right?
Bernie has stated that those good ideas such as minimum wage, free college etc won't be done in any easy manner because going up against the republican and democrat establishment is impossible alone. But Bernie Sanders is not going to do it alone, he will rally up the people as president and if X government official do not want to oblige, well Bernie says they will be looking for a new job.
One very good thing about Bernie Sanders is that he has a record spanning over 25 years. So there is simply nothing to doubt about him, he won't turn evil overnight that's ridiculous for one.

He definitely would have. Ignoring how much of an war hawk T.R. was in general, before his untimely death T.R. offered to lead a group of volunteers into W.W. I (and probably would have if it were not for Wilson who ultimately turned down the proposal). Dude was also a massive militarist.

Because that's how the system should work, apparently...

That could have ended badly, imagine the massive shock a former US president getting gunned down by the kiasars machine guns would have been in the US

By media I think he means using media to mobilize people to force their legislators to act instead of leaving things the way they are
