Hah, my friend had never seen Star Wars, so I made him watch it with me. We also made some connections between the "government" killing some fine upstanding citizens and making it look like "sand people" did it. :iiam:
That actually got me thinking; what did the Empire do in star wars that was so evil? I mean, they fought with the rebels, but so what, the rebels fought with them. Generally the empire planets seem to be happier, and they would be peaceful if the rebels didn't keep attacking them. They were a bit ruthless with their interrogation methods (blowing up a planet was a bit extreme) but that was in war. If everyone was ruled under the empire, everyone in starwarsland would be happy.

I'm starting to see more and more that the Empire was based on America.
If we replace blowing up a planet with nuking japan there we have it.

They imposed exorbitant taxes on member planets, enslaved nonhumans, violently suppressed dissent, and committed genocide more than a couple times
