Just learned AS3 coding, and made this little thing. Tell me what you think.

(video, if you can't play the flash version, or just don't want to... or something...)

That's nice.
That was cute. My only complaint is that I wish I didn't have to hold my mouse down to move the umbrella. It's a great little idea though I would like to see you do more with it. :h:
I like the relatively minimalistic style you're using. You pulled it off quite nicely.
Wow that is really neat!
I love the music and the art style, everything works together nicely.
Can't wait till you make more, or make this one harder, like you have to shield more than one butterfly.
The only thing with a problem is the rain. Visually I would prefer if the droplets were more stretched out, thinner and faster. The other thing is that the droplets are visible over the "try again" text when you kill the butterfly.
I won! Cool game dude
Very nice game, especially if it's your first
I think I killed the butterfly with the umbrella :saddowns:
I almost shed a tear when the butterfly died.
Good job, man
Wauw, this was actually good.
Bravo :pseudo:
Simple and to the point. I like it.
it's nice but i wish the music were higher quality
No! BUTTERFLY DON'T DIE ON ME!
...it's my fault. :smith:
:v: Good game OP, I like the minimalist approach.
a nice little game, don't like how you have to click and drag the umbrella though. if it was much longer that would've started to grate on some nerves.
My hand was sore from having to hold the mouse down through the whole thing. I'd suggest maybe letting the player pick up or drop the umbrella with a single click. Very nice game, though.
Thanks for the input everyone, Ill consider everything you guys are saying for the next version of the game, which will be longer, and have more gameplay elements.
Sell this to a company like liberty mutual, make millions.
I bet if you could turn this into a app on the Android device or Apple it would turn out well.
pretty cool, good job!
I think you should minimize the style even more, Simplify the butterfly down a bit. The concept is really simple and nice, I think as the level progressed you could have the butterfly move more sparatically and quicker, and for another possible variable down the line might be as simple as adding a "wind" to the rain drops that cause them to slope at varying and increasing angles, causing you to have to shade your butterfly in-front or behind him to counter-act the sloping drops. That'd add variation without effecting the minimalistic approach of the game.
good for a first game, lots of potential. It felt like you were trying a bit too hard to make it artsy.

Yeah, I was. It was for a class project, so I was trying to make it as artsy as possible to impress the instructor, who doesn't know any better.
When you said 'first' I was worried, but I can safely say that this is very good work.
