Trump puts the media in a basement with the windows covered as he played golf with Abe.
Members of President Trump's press pool on Saturday said they were kept from tagging along as the president golfed with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Trump and Abe are at the president's Jupiter, Fla., golf club for the weekend after a meeting and press conference Friday at the White House.
Trump tweeted photos of the two from the golf course, but reporters in both his and Abe's press pools shared photos from inside the golf club, where they were left during the golfing session.
One pool reporter tweeted that the pool reporters were staying in a basement suite where windows were covered with black plastic to keep the journalists from seeing out onto the course.
A White House pool report said that photographers were instructed not to take pictures on the grounds of the "private club."
This reads like some weird rapey fanfic.
Probably because he is terrible at golf and cheats, nobody wants a liar as president [sp]/s[/sp]

No need for the /s. I'm pretty sure that was the actual reason. Unfortunately though, an uncomfortable number of 'murricans actually wants this guy in the White House.
I guess the title "Man wants privacy as he conducts talks with other man" wasn't sensationalist enough lol. I'm pretty sure every prez at some point had reporters/press/etc fuck off as they do work.
Out of all the legit criticisms you can fire at trump, this really feels like hating for no reason.
Well it's obvious Trump wanted peace and quietness with no camera shutters or people roaming around the field so he could concentrate on playing golf with Abe.

I think it's more realistic that he wanted privacy with the Prime Minister of Japan and not have the constant chatter and camera shutters as they play a game between them. But hey, let's reach for straws and try to look hip by shitting on everything that has to do with him.
This is like one of those 'Would You Rather' games.
Would you rather be stuck in a room with thirty more-than-likely awkward photojournalists who are just a step above paparazzi in a single room for an undisclosed amount of time, or golfing with a human cheeto of an egomaniac on a private golf course.
Take your time.

Point. But the black plastic seems like overkill. They wouldn't have caught anything but the game from the basement suite anyway.

This is the man who calls the press "fake news" whenever they say something unflattering about him.
This is the man who called a press conference and didn't show up just to waste their time.

Yes very valid points to criticize the twat that are unrelated to him wanting privacy for an hour out of his life lol

While he and the leader of Japan probably discuss the future of their two countries. Like for real, people are going to go sideways with this.
but who will like to have journalists chasing you, even on weekends when you want to relax)

remember the shit that they (specifically fox) threw when china accidentally left our press corp out from obama's visit 4 months ago? this is litterally 10x worse and we did it to japan

You shouldn't run for the most public office if you want privacy.
why can't he be more like bush

He really is bad at golf and does not want anyone to see him jacknife on the back 9.
Trump's been very warm towards Japan lately. He personally paid for Abe to come to Mar-a-Lago; he was pushing for a new trade deal specifically with Japan even before TPP was thrown out; he's come out in favor of Japan to start building up a nuclear arsenal of its own. There's a trend here and from what I can tell it seems to point towards building up a more powerful Japanese ally to throw off the influence countries like China and North Korea. I love Japan and I don't see anything wrong with strengthening our relationship with their government.

I never thought I'd see anyone say this, even as a joke.
Are we just going to ignore that they're playing at a course that Trump owns

Yeah Trump is so bad it makes me wistful for Bush.

He can have private discussions with Abe in the offices of the White House.
They are not going to discuss major ground-breaking policy on a golf course. The whole thing was a publicity stunt and for some reason, they closed off the key to making it a publicity stunt - the recording of it.

No, they prolly did. The golf course is no different than the boardroom for a businessman.

Major detail-oriented discussions of policy require papers to write ideas and other things down, aids to run information to come back when needed to further the discussion and computers to help both of those things to happen.
Anything discussed on a golf course will be lightly, talked-about general topics.
They're both leaders of countries, of course they are going to talk about politics to an extent. But they're not going to organize and draft treaties and trade deals out there that require a media blackout.

Yeah that's not even kind of the case mate, usually stuff is talked about over casual affairs like these and then there are reiterations where other people are paid to draft down that kind of stuff.
Abe doesn't hunch over his laptop and write out every single international dialogue he plans on having, no world leader does.
