I wonder if this is the one. Blood Money was brilliant, but Hitman 2 is gonna stay in my heart forever.

After playing the beta, I'd say it might just be. It's at least the second best past Blood Money, the quality of levels will determine if it's better than BM or not.
Is it just me or is the shot full of people at 0:10 pretty much missing all shadows?
Well, again I will repeat that Contracts was almost as good as Blood Money. It improved on everything from Silent Assassin, and Blood Money just added a cherry on top.
Oh man I'm so excited about this game

Yea lets hope they take it to the next level and top Blood Moneys final boss

That was a great trailer.
The levels in Contracts are better than most in Blood Money. Blood Money had too many levels where half the map was used for the mission and the other half was basically empty. The entire guest area of the Death on the Mississippi was completely empty, compare that to Traditions of the Trade where the empty rooms could be used as an alternate route into locked areas or to pass checkpoints.
I like Blood Money but people give it WAY too much leeway for the shit it messed up on, as well as giving Absolution a bunch of unnecessary flack for not being Blood Money 2.

Absolution is utter shit but apart from that I agree
Contracts was pretty great
giving Absolution a bunch of unnecessary flack for not being Blood Money 2.
Absolution had barely anything in common with the series as a whole rather than not being blood money 2
It's a decent game I guess? But a terrible, terrible hitman game
How has contracts aged? Is it still worth going back to visit as a fan of Blood Money, or have the modern conveniences with the series spoiled me?
This new Hitman title seems to be addressing some of the problems I had with absolution, in the exact way I would have wanted them to, especially the disguise mechanic changes. There was nothing more frustrating then having a dude rush off screaming help in the middle of crowded china town because he didn't recognize me in my chef uniform from 15 feet away.
How many trailers does this game have/need? This is like the 10th hitman trailer released in the past year.
The more trailers made me fear for the worst

Besides minor gripes the levels are just so well done in contracts its hard to get annoyed unless you look super close. Atmosphere is absolutely top-notch and the OST as always back then, was gold.

I don't see why you wouldn't like Contracts. It has some of the most memorable and disturbing levels and if you skipped the original Codename 47 it has also most of the maps from that game but remastered. Graphics were pretty good for a 2004 game, and they aged well, I would say they look a bit "cartoony" by today's standards, so if you are okay with that type of art style in modern games this old game should look pretty good to you.
Contracts has some gold star levels like Beldingford Manor.
Actually every game in the series is worth experiencing in their own right because they all have great things.
Even if you may have been spoiled a bit by some improvements to the overall formula if you jumped in at Blood Money I do recommend playing through Codename 47, Silent Assassin and Contracts.
Contracts also had the worst mission, The Bjarkhov Bomb.
Picture if we got a authentic Hitman film and not the shite we got. It'll be amazing.

They should have had David Bateson play 47 and had it focus more on his professionalism and efficiency, rather than generic action film about a guy with (not quite) super powers.
Contracts also had the worst mission, The Bjarkhov Bomb.
Hm, I don't have any negative memories about that mission. I can't see how it can be any worse then those snow missions leading to the Japanese castle in SA. Those should have been combined into one mega level.

Oh, I never knew the voice actor for 47 is 47 himself :v:
Technically Hitman games are intelligent stealth "puzzle" games with a lot of style and class. Turning it into a dumb action flick(two times), doesn't make any sense, and the potential for a good movie is just incredible.

that's awkward as heck but the fact that they actually accounted for him falling down stairs is amazing

Yet somehow they managed to miss that if you pull the gun from his hands, he'll get out of the wheelchair and crouch in surrender.

It was really uncomfortable for me to kill a guy in a wheelchair, so it is good to hear he was faking it all along.

It wasn't terribly interesting but I don't have many negative memories of it.

I dunno. I had some fun times with it. But true, it does have a lot of jankiness to it. Hitman 2: Silent Assassin is when they nailed down what they wanted the series to be.

This is my opinion as well. I had fun with it, but the devs didn't really know themselves what kind of a game they wanted to make until Silent Assassin. Then they remade most of the first game in Contracts. They left out only tree missions in South America, which were more Soldier of Fortune type missions than actual Hitman missions. I wasn't able to kill the Scarface dude without alarming the base, so I ended up killing everyone with a minigun :v:

Fuck that mission, it's so long and easy to fail. Each new death and you lose a ton of progress too. Codename 47 has its upsides though. The harbour levels are fun and carry an atmosphere the Contracts recreation lacks, for example. Probably due to this track.

Codename 47 is barely even recognizable as a Hitman game. The controls have aged very poorly, a large portion of the missions are just built around you running around and shooting everyone and there's maybe like one or two missions that are actually proper Hitman.

Then look at A New Life. It's a super small map, but it's considered one of the best missions in the series.
