This must be really upsetting for Milliband, the Tories were supposed to be the big losers from this by-electuion, and now this has kind of thrown the spotlight back onto Labour:
A Labour front bench MP has apologised after she tweeted a photo of a house in Rochester adorned with three England flags, which saw her accused of holding working class voters in “contempt”.
Emily Thornberry, Labour shadow attorney general and MP for Islington South and Finsbury in north London, was on the campaign train in Rochester today.
At around 3pm, she tweeted a photo of a two-storey house with a white Transit van parked outside and three St George flags hanging from its window, alongside the caption “image from #Rochester”.
Thornberry, who lives in a £3million home in London, later told The Telegraph she posted the photo because she thought it was "remarkable" as she had never seen a house "completely covered in flags before".
The image in question:

Well, I see where she's coming from
Don't see how this is offensive, she is literally stating the obvious, this is a house in Rochester. How can you be offended by that, even if it said #shithole people would be hesitant to disagree
They're just moving with the times its popular to hate lower class.
If she said "LOL look @ these plebs", then there could be some outrage.
Fucking kneejerk reactions.
Millionaires should not be allowed to be in power. They only think of themselves and their social group of the wealthy.

So you would make it illegal for people worth £1 million or more to be elected or run for a seat?
Millionaires should not be allowed to be in power. They only think of themselves and their social group of the wealthy.
While I can't agree with the idea that every wealthy person is selfish, I do think it's odd how politicians tend to almost always be rolling in money. It means that either money is an incentive to be in positions of power or that it's somehow a requirement.

I suppose that it is suggesting that the typical working class person in Rochester is a typical 'white van man' 'Englund' nationalist.
When bearing in mind that the fact thats a white van doesn't mean to say that they are a 'white van man' and the fact that there was an England match just the other night doesn't mean to say that they are a 'Englund' nationalist.
They may well be seeing as it could soon be a UKIP seat but still, best not kick the wasps nest.

Money is correlated with success, which is in turn correlated with ability. It's only natural that those with ability end up in positions of power.
Is England filled to the brim with political correctness or does it just seem that way?

Hahahaha.
yes lets let average joe run a country.
Thatll be good

While I wouldn't go as far as to say we should ban millionaires from politics, there are way too many rich people from rich background in British politics who don't give a fuck about the working class.
Is she actually a millionaire, or is it just that she lives in a £3m home? Being as how it's London they're not necessarily the same thing.
I mean I don't imagine she's renting it or anything, so she presumably does own it, but you know :v:
Since when is a house covered in flags unusual? Although I am from northern Ireland so there is the chance we've got more St George's crosses and union jacks than England itself.

how does this relate at all to "political correctness," terrible phrase that it is

itt people don't understand connotation
imagine if I went to detroit and tweeted a picture of a KFC filled with black people and added "image from #detroit"
I mean, yes, it would be technically true, but the malicious implication is obvious
If she said "LOL look @ these plebs", then there could be some outrage.

Ah, so because she only implied it, it's OK.

But it's still a car in front of a house. KFC filled with black people does indeed sound racist, and because of that may be malicious, but the picture in OP really isn't.
But then, I'm not a Brit so I wouldn't know.
Is England filled to the brim with political correctness or does it just seem that way?
It's filled with irritatingly high amounts. The word 'brainstorm' is banned from classrooms because it apparently victimises people with epilepsy..

I imagine it would be similar to going to the south, finding a house with a confederate flag, and posting #TheSouth... except that's basically the image that many liberals try to push all the time.
Millionaires should not be allowed to be in power. They only think of themselves and their social group of the wealthy.
poor ppl shouldnt vote cos they only vote for welfare
Hahahaha.

Instead we should only let those that are born into a professional family with a lot of money and a private education run the country because they know what's best for us.
So you would make it illegal for people worth £1 million or more to be elected or run for a seat?
Well you have to wonder why everyone in these seats are always wealthy, in almost every country, and the majority of them don't know dick all and ONLY have that seat because they were willing to spend more money on than the other guy
It's filled with irritatingly high amounts. The word 'brainstorm' is banned from classrooms because it apparently victimises people with epilepsy..
I've never heard that before.
I've never heard that before.
From 2005 onwards every school/college I went to disallowed the word
Millionaires should not be allowed to be in power. They only think of themselves and their social group of the wealthy.
Contrary to belief, it's possible to make your millions without being a sociopath.

You need money to run campaigns.
I imagine it would be similar to going to the south, finding a house with a confederate flag, and posting #TheSouth... except that's basically the image that many liberals try to push all the time.
Image liberals try to push? Haha, have you been to the south before? I've lived in the south for most of my life, that's not an image someone needs help to push, it's not THAT uncommon, especially depending on the city and state. Hell if I had that picture I'd immediately associate it with the south too. It doesn't mean southerners are bad people, just means some are white trash.
The Rochester resident who shot to prominence after a Labour MP lost her job in the shadow cabinet for tweeting a picture of his house on the day of a by-election has unveiled his six-point plan for the country.
Dan Ware, predictably dubbed ‘White Van Dan’, published his… ‘Danifesto’ in the Sun newspaper despite admitting to not remembering the last time he voted.
The car dealer and sometime cage-fighter’s “no-nonsense plan for a better Britain” is:
Welfare state: Work for four years after you leave school before you can claim benefits.
Immigration: Copy the Aussies. If people show up uninvited, send them back.
Transport: Public transport costs are too high. More investment in roads too.
Education: Better discipline. Kids are too mouthy now, not like when we had the cane.
Justice: Tougher sentences for murderers. And jail those who burn the poppy.
Taxes: A killer for self-employed people like me. Start-ups need more breaks.
