• David Cameron: Forcing disabled people out of their homes because of the bedroom tax makes no sense
David Cameron has admitted that forcing disabled people out of their homes with his hated bedroom tax “makes no sense”.The shock admission was made after the PM was asked to personally intervene in the case of Iris Henderson, 59, who was born with dwarfism. Under the bedroom tax, Iris faces losing a quarter of her housing benefit unless she moves out of her specially adapted house. She has spent thousands on her home to cater for her disability, including £4500 to have the appliances and units in her kitchen made lower. In a letter, Cameron claimed tenants such as Iris, who suffers from arthritis and osteoporosis and needs crutches to walk, shouldn’t get full benefits while living in modified homes with spare bedrooms. But he admitted in a letter to Iris’s MP Gregg McClymont that it made “no sense” for someone whose home had undergone big alterations to move.
Source: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/david-cameron-forcing-disabled-people-1884104
his fucking party are the ones who rushed it through! stop trying to appeal to the voters, it's not going to work.
Tories have blundered, something like this will be very damaging to the party with the election in just two years, something like this is what makes people turn to the protest parties which is now UKIP.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
And then England goes bye-bye.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
That's the same year they will genetically modify pigs to have wings.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
Fuck I hope not.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
Not likely. Won't take the northern or scottish vote, their acceptance is based around south east of england with old stupid racists, however they will not pull enough seats to even form a coalition, let alone a government.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
Nice joke, you need work on it a bit more to make it really funny.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
All UKIP has became is the new Lib-Dems, you can't protest vote someone who's already in Government.
They didn't make exemptions for people like that?

It's not a tax.
It's not a tax.
No, but it does change peoples circumstances beyond their control in exchange for money. Like a tax. How can thousands of people move into more appropriate housing if there isn't any?
This are the scroungers of society they get away with it because they are disabled. So what you need the spare room for integrated dialysis machine just pay up and get on with it like we did in the war (when britain was great country). Or maybe you would prefer if immigrants lived in that room for free and you payed for them because that is what will happen of this country.
The idea of "hey, people might have empty rooms, let's make a tax for it!" is set-on-fire-scorpion-infested-covered-in-barbed-wire-and-electrified-pants-on-head retarded ideas I've ever heard.
lol what?

Whenever short on cash, they bang on the pipe and out pours money directly from the treasury. Labour made it a campaign promise to put one of these in the house of every person that votes Labour, having already done it for immigrants.
How is this bad? If you have a disability and are in a house with bedrooms un-occupied on housing benefit. Moving to a smaller place is better since it saves the government money and frees up space for other people. Maybe what they should do is setup a support scheme to help people find other places to live.
Can someone explain the details of this tax to the americans here? So far i picked up its related to housing. Something along the lines of they determined "how much" house you need and if you want more you are taxed for the privilege? Sounds pretty insane to me, why would they care what you do with your own property?
H8Entitlement it's social housing (council houses) not their "own property" and it isn't really a tax per se. If you have an "unused" bedroom you get a drop in weekly housing benefit/council tax benefit even if there is no social housing nearby that is "suitable" in size for you and your family. Some will have to move areas altogether.

It's something like a 17% reduction for one and 25% for two. It also implements rules determining what constitutes a spare bedroom. It's also not their 'own property', it's the accommodation they live in via housing benefit
How is this bad? Yeah social housing i.e. council houses not private renting people even if they pay their rent with housing benefit.
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
Its never going to happen. UKIP is just going to fracture the right and that'll be the end of both UKIP and the Tories. Fine by me.
Social housing is gov owned housing then? Or is it regular places ppl rent and they get a gov subsidy of x amount? Seems like either way could be solved easier using means testing (basically a case review to see if you need assistance, rather then everyone in group x qualifies)
Its never going to happen. UKIP is just going to fracture the right and that'll be the end of both UKIP and the Tories. Fine by me.
The Tories coming to an end? What planet are you on?
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
every credible economist ever cries ron paul supporters over the globe piss themselves in a pre-pubescent cry of glory
UKIP 2015. Its going to happen.
If that happens I'm moving out of England
The Tories coming to an end? What planet are you on?
Like the Tories can win the next election with a split electorate
My mother is deathly afraid of UKIP coming into power. I keep telling her it'll never happen but she's adamant with the way things are going that it might happen. If it did happen I'd be moving myself and her out of here.
