Man abandons Audi in flood waters, finds it two weeks later with (almost) everything stolen

This is all that is left of a £60,000 sports car abandoned by its owner when its engine stopped on a flooded road after it was ‘ripped to shreds’ by thieves.

Thats not what I expected when I read "everything stolen".
Jesus they weren't kidding when they said EVERYTHING.
Hope the insurance will cover that.
poor bastard
People are fucking terrible. That's life I guess.
Jesus, that's some gypsy-level salvaging right there.
Maybe http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1359013 this dog ate it.
Really what do you expect though? For two weeks man? He's lucky he got a bit of the chassis fuck.
I am thoroughly impressed with how thorough they were.
If he gave that much of a shit about it he wouldn't have left it there for 2 weeks.
How come they didn't just tow it away? I'm sure it'd be worth more as a stolen car than as a bunch of hacked-up scrap metal.
I like how they didn't just take the whole fucking thing.
I don't know what possesses someone to drive through flooding like that, you can very easily fuck up your engine.

There's still part of the vehicle left.

2 weeks? what the fuck
A jeep would've easily gotten in that water and dragged the car out
Jesus, that's some gypsy-level salvaging right there.
the funny thing is that there's a huge gypsy camp less than a mile from where the car was dumped
I always think it's sad to see cars cannibalized like this.

probably cause of tracking
Does insurance cover this?

No because it would flag up on ANPR the second it is taken on the road and taken by police, and not many people would buy a flood damaged car with no paper work which shows as stolen on a HPI check.
In bits it's much harder to trace, most of them are probably on Ebay right now
Might as well remove the '(almost)' from the title, what's left is not even worth mentioning!
They stole everything. Literally all they left was fucking scrap metal.
I want to feel bad for this but frankly I'm too impressed. Good fucking effort.
what was the point in censoring the license plate, they stole that also
If he gave that much of a shit about it he wouldn't have left it there for 2 weeks.
people who drive audis usually arent the kind of people to go back and try to save their cars

It's still gonna be his plate number on his other car.

what the fuck lol??
this is fucked up, I wonder if this means that if you keep a car like this parked in your driveway that it is poised to be stolen at any moment
You have to use some serious tools for that shit, they came prepared.
Really what do you expect though? For two weeks man? He's lucky he got a bit of the chassis fuck.
it was already pretty busted up after a few days, it isn't like he could have come back the next day to drive it away
Gregg Watkins, who spotted the Audi just two days after it was abandoned, said it was ‘incredible’ how fast it had been stripped.

He added: 'The owner must have just have seen the state of it, stuck a claim in with his insurers and left it to them to deal with it.'
Only if you don't know how to do it.
The trick is to floor it and not let go. At least with manual transmission, that's how it works, and you can go through almost any body of water as long as you keep the throttle constant. Not sure if having a slushbox automatic would make it not work like that.
