Families who lost relatives in the 2005 London bomb attacks are appealing to cinemas not to show a British comedy about four aspiring suicide bombers.
Four Lions, created by satirist Chris Morris, focuses on four men travelling to London to target the marathon.
Graham Foulkes, whose son was among the 52 killed on 7 July 2005, said that, with the tragedy still raw, the film was too closely aligned to real events.
A spokesperson for the makers was not immediately available for comment.
Mr Foulkes, whose 22-year-old son David was on the Edgware Road train, told BBC Radio 5 live parody and satire had a part to play in examining serious issues
"But here, what he's done, he's taken a specific attack," he said.
He said the film was about "four lads from the north, all with strong Yorkshire accents - and the bombers were from Yorkshire - travelling down to London".
"It's very specific.
"It's very aligned to what happened in 2005 and they talk about bombing in London.
"That's not parodying or being satire about terrorists. It's making money about a specific attack."
Mr Foulkes, who said he had watched clips of Four Lions on the internet, said he and other relatives of victims were calling on cinemas to boycott the British-funded film.
Grahame Russell, who lost his 28-year-old son Philip in the bombings, told 5 live: "I didn't see the humour in four people buying ingredients to make a bomb to come to London and kill innocent members of the public travelling on the underground," he said.
"I didn't think that was funny at all."
Chris Morris, who was also behind the controversial Channel 4 show Brass Eye, says the film shows "the Dad's Army side to terrorism", as four incompetent jihadists plan an attack.
In January when the film was premiered, Arsher Ali, who plays one of the would-be terrorists, told the BBC the film was first and foremost a comedy.
"It's a dynamic of a bunch of guys who get together and mess everything up.
"Terrorism is in the news almost every day, but there are little stories within those things that are inherently comic and inherently human.
"A film like this is obviously a very strong counterpoint to the very serious side of it, which none of us condone, but there are human stories that need to be told, which can be quite touching."
Last week, many of the relatives' families attended a pre-inquest hearing. The full inquests are due to be held in October. [/quote]

Personaly I think its a load of bollocks, I mean the way they are going on about it its as if anyone who sees it is going to come out thinking 'Gee them terrorist sorts ain't so bad after all' and 'Golly gosh I want to become a terrorist to!'
But theb I an slightly biast to this film as I really really want to see it.

If somebody made a comedy film about 9/11, and it was actually funny, I'd go see it. People need to learn to get over things, if you can't laugh about it how are you ever going to cope?

I have to admit as funny as it looks, it is understandable how some people are upset by it.
It may be a stupid comedy but this sort of stuff does alot more then wars.

Exactly, laughter is the best medicine. And I this case the best weapon.
What better way to stick two up at Osama and Co. than to produce ways and means that take the pain, suffering and terror that they wish spread and combat it with laughter and mirth?
Well, maybe it's too soon for some people, and understandably. But for the rest of us, I'm glad somebody had the balls to make this. And it actually looks good.
If movies can be made to demonize American government, movies can be made to portray laughable Muslim extremists.

I lost an Uncle in an IRA bombing (I know it my not seem the same as what happened in England/America)
But I still find this movie to look hilarious!

Except it's not about a real bombing at all.
It isn't trying to "make money" off of the 7/7 bombings.
