He is part of why it blew up, as his video about the 'Five Guys' incident got falsely DMCAed, causing a lot of anger.
He 'quit' the movement after he tried to weaponize the movement for his own personal benefit and people made it clear that they weren't his attack dog.

Really? I was under the impression it was the opposite. that he thought it was too focused on specific people and "leaders" and not the actual ideas.

He was in it for the 5 guys story and the initial backlash from the press, albeit with a strong sympathy for the anti-SJWs. Once that part of it ran its course he very quickly lost interest. While he might've misrepresented gamergate he didn't intentionally misinform anyone. That was more Milo's thing.

i liked the first video, on doug walker. metokour played the part of an outside observer like he should. right in the second one, he gets way too invested in the content and it's a little embarrassing, because it stops being a deconstruction of someone's work and just becomes a hit piece

I liked his earlier videos, since they had more girth, less personal attacks and more taking a look at what they've done to deserve their reputation now. This just feels like "haha look at this weird dweeb isn't he weird and creepy and [whatever else]?"

I went and binged a bunch of his videos a week or so ago. He has some entertaining stuff where he digs into some really fucked up and weird personalities and presents what he's found. Those are interesting and a good watch, but a good chunk of his videos are just weird personal attacks or just plain fucking mean for the sake of being mean

Yeah he's a typical /pol/ack who occasionally makes a decent video about weirdos being weirdos but more often than not he misses the mark entirely and comes off as a raw asshole who pretends to make a point/come up with intelligent observations/criticism when in reality he just wants to shit on people who aren't him.
When he tries to "make a point" it becomes obvious the guy does not understand what that even means since it usually boils down to "you should have acted differently also I've never heard of hindsight".

Well, I can't speak for anyone else obviously, but I never paid much attention to Internet Aristocrat. I only really watched his more neutral videos summarizing both sides of the whole GamerGate fiasco, in a small batch of videos from different sides I'd recommend people who were interested in the whole fiasco at the time.
Note that I said "more" neutral. I don't think there is such a thing as "true neutral" when it comes to Metokur.

Joe announced a 2-month vacation, made a lower-effort video during that time, and his fans acted like a bunch of pissbabies thinking it was some massive betrayal? Like he owes them X number of videos periodically? What kind of shitty community is this that he's not allowed to stop making videos for a couple months?
I've never watched angry joe before but I also didn't really learn anything from this video, the series has already devolved into full-on petty gossip
i thought the moral of the video was essentially "Your audience won't know how hard it is to create videos, you need to make that known or your fanbase will go nuts if you one day take a break"
