At least 42 Nato oil tankers and containers were torched after armed men fired two rockets at them in the Kharotabad area of Quetta on Thursday.
As many as 32 oil tankers and 10 containers, carrying fuel and military hardware for Nato forces in Afghanistan, were parked in a terminal on the Airport Road when a group of armed men fired two rockets, followed by intense firing.
Initially, a few oil tankers caught fire that eventually engulfed nearby oil tankers and containers too.
“At least 32 oil tankers and 10 containers carrying necessary supply for Nato forces were destroyed in the attack,” CCPO Mehbob Ehsan told The Express Tribune.
Fire tenders rushed to the spot soon after the incident and tried to extinguish the blaze. However, the fire could not be brought under control till this report was filed.
According to reports, the armed men managed to flee from the scene after carrying out the attack.
No casualties have been reported yet.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack but the Taliban have taken responsibility for carrying out similar attacks in the past to disrupt supplies for more than 130,000 US-led international troops fighting in Afghanistan.
According to official sources, as many as 119 oil tankers and 111 containers carrying fuel and military hardware for Nato forces are parked in different terminals of Quetta for the past 13 days since Pakistan suspended the supply.[/release]
Holy crap, I read that as 42 NATO tanks, I thought WWIII was ramping up
Nothing like a quick panic to wake you up :v:
Really Pakistan... if you're going to shut down the border crossings in protest, you should at the very least actually protect the trucks laying in wait. Now the United States is going to have to reimburse the trucking company's due to Pakistan's incompetence. How is that fair?

shouldn't the US be hiring contractors to protect the trucks?

They don't give a shit, and if I was the US, for something like this? I'd let Pakistan deal with the incurred costs.

They should care, they rely deeply on the $20 billion in aid that the US has given them since 2001. They need it to have any chance to continue fighting the Taliban. Also i agree Pakistan should have to pay the costs to replace the trucks, though we all know the US will end up paying the bill.
I would think all that stuff is bought and paid for by the time it hits Pakistan. So the losses are all absorbed by the American taxpayer.
Really? Two rockets? How fucking shitty does your design have to be to have two rockets cause a reaction that lights up 42 trucks?
And why would you park that many trucks that close together? Especially ones that are filled with flammable fluids.
Can we finally just recognize that Pakistan is NOT our ally in any way shape or form and stop funding them? If they hate us for it, then whatever. Fuck them.

The US pays for the goods upfront, then pays the driver when it’s delivered. If the driver’s truck gets blown up, the US pays to replace it. There were inquiries of possible fraud awhile back. Drivers were selling a good portion of the gas they were tasked to deliver, and then blowing up their own trucks and blaming the Taliban to make an extra buck along with a new truck.

They have nukes, terrorists would love to have Pakistan's nukes.

Damn, I hate the thought of someone getting their hands on a nuke and detonating in a largely populated city. Don't think it's likely, just hate the thought.

Read the article? They were torched and RPG's were fired at them at night.

It was probably the Pakistani military that carried out the attack.
FYI lots of tankers travelling from Pakistan to NATO had been hit.
Shit, we knew this was coming after Pakistan decided to block US supply routes and the tankers started piling up. It was only a matter of time before they hit all those tankers just lined up waiting.

WWIII will not start up just because another middle eastern country decides it doesn't like the US anymore.
