I left it until I got better at VFX. I realized that this site was only for REALLY good stuff, not meh-ish

tape is a shit way to bound anything togetehr on props. It leaves horrible crumpled-up areas that look bad. Better to cover with paper/cardboard/plastic sheets and paint over.

for a buck fifty you can buy some airshit snipa rifla, some wires and LED's and a battery and fill it with led's and attatch random shit you find around the house for it and finish it off with a bitchin paintjob.

I respectfully disagree. While yours does look nice, it is very glossy and flimsy looking. The airsoft ones look rather realistic (despite shooting like crap, but you're not buying it for that anyways). Not to mention all the effort saved in just getting one of those.

Meaning you would save money buying a airsoft gun that lasts longer and looks better.

It doesnt break alot, this videos old, i've used this one for a while. I have experience with airspringers too, they break within the first month. And once again, its supposed to be futuristic.

You give more excuses for not taking criticism than the average da user. Honestly it looks cheap and defending it isn't helping your case. Go improve. Get better materials, if you don't like them, instead of saying it isn't your fault because it still is. everything is an investment.

I'm taking the criticism, AND improving too. Ive already put the cardboard over the tape like that one dude told me I should do. When I say I like my version better, thats called an opinion. I made this for a futuristic movie, and so it was aimed to be futuristic, not realistic. It also looked semi-modern, so I made a video about it. If you think it looks cheap, ok, I dont though. What your doing is asking me to change my opinion. Although I DO admit it doesnt look super realistic, and if someone held it in their hand and looked at it they'd be all WTF IS THIS? But, thats not what this prop was meant for.

PS: If you want someone to change their ways, being an ass about it isnt the correct way to go. Try to be nicer sometimes.

the prop plainly does not look good at any distance. it looks cheap and poorly made. the craftsmanship is what id expect from someone who literally doesnt care at all and just made it to kill time. saying it's not supposed to be realistic is the standards excuse from someone who can't take crit. it's basically textbook. if someone looks at your work that is not totally abstract and nonrepresentational and doesn't understand it or thinks it's poorly crafted, then it's poorly crafted. this isn't an opinion, this is actual fact.
