• What happened to media tagging images?

well I was going through this thread http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1261490 , and it made me think, why the hell can we no longer media tag images, that was a great feature and is quite useful for posting NSFW images such as gore. SO my question is, why is it gone/ hasn't been re-implemented. This post explains the feature better then I
He's referring to the images being hidden until you clicked a thing that showed them in the page. Garry removed them because they still downloaded the image if they weren't open, and he felt they were useless I believe.
Probably un-necessary load on the server when posting hyperlinks works just fine.
The media tags were for linking to videos and stuff. Not for adding spoilers to images.
while this thread exists why was the ticker taken away? the garry giveth and taketh away?
There's another thread going about that, but fyi it's still here http://facepunch.com/fp_ticker.php
If you want to hide stuff just link to it, like this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22771846/sweden.jpg It's easier to open stuff in a new tab anyways, because it doesn't stretch the page. [editline]15th April 2013[/editline] and If you want previews but don't want to stretch the page, use [img_thumb][/img_thumb] tags, like this: [img_thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22771846/army-of-darkness-movie-poster-1993-1020170568.jpg[/img_thumb]

Hover Zoom / equivalent browser plugins with hyperlinks work just as well as media tags fyi
The media tags were for linking to videos and stuff.
