The PSN, still not online, has a target of May 31. At this point, another delay is not much of a shocker to the PS3, SOE, and Qriocity members from the PSN hacked incident. In psychology, it's called "learned helplessness," or being conditioned in getting one's rear kicked. According to a report from Bloomberg, a Tokyo-based spokesperson gave the dismal news of a (another) delay. Shigenori Yoshida said the Sony PlayStation Network, down since April 20, failed to get back online by week's end. The company is conducting further testing on a new and improved network security system designed to prevent another data breach by hackers of PSN. But the truth is the company suffered another embarrassment when its website sustained an attack. Well, the hackers warned Sony days ago. Yes, you heard it right; the PSN is far off from getting back online. You'll just have to wait a little while longer before playing "Black Ops." Bummer; it stinks, but the company has much to gain at this point by creating a secure system. No one wants another breach that involves over 100 million gamers, suddenly left in the dark and with the only option to defect to Xbox. Remember that the Sony PlayStation Network is down because the company failed to keep an eye on your private data, but kept innovation in its crosshairs. It's worth the wait to get the PSN back online, because a few freebies are in order, and a $1 million identity theft insurance policy is yours at no cost. It's more than you had before. It all amounts to peace of mind. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
oh wow Meanwhile when psn comes back online you will have two games to choose from on PS3 and PSP if you own either http://www.destructoid.com/sony-to-offer-two-free-games-to-psn-members-due-to-outage-200643.phtml
I want a free good new game for this. One that costs like, $60, instead of some cheap $3 game.
'might be back on may 31st' 'might' :psyduck:
Maybe, I'll say maaybe...
Dont worry guys! You'll get a free PSN game to make up for it!
I want a free good new game for this. One that costs like, $60, instead of some cheap $3 game.
i hope portal 2 is on the list
Sony's getting hammered. Especially since lots of inpatient "gamers" would've sold their PS3 for a Xbox360 before the 31st May
Holy fuck that's a long time. This is worse than the RRODs probably, considering they also lost CC info.
What the fuck?
I already know of a few people that have sold their PS3's for an Xbox. [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] This is just messed up for PS users.
I heard on the radio today that they removed personal details from their servers
Sucks for those players waiting for brink. More noobs on xbl is a plus though
Doesn't matter, Judgement day is on the 21st, remember?
well that sucks my backlog of ps3 games just keeps growing
That's a while, atleast I'm going paintball on the 29th. I can pretend I'm playing multiplayer with all my mates. [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] This isn't going to make me sell my console or anything, I've spent way too much on games for that :v:
Wait, servers are still down? I thought servers went happily online some time ago or was it just a rumour?

[editline]9th May 2011[/editline] This is just messed up for PS users.
I might be alone on this but I never was much a dedicated player on the console, let alone play online on it, so while I love my PS3, I'm only somewhat bothered by this outage. I also never entered any sensitive information, so just switching my password when the system's back on hopefully will do the trick.
oh hey, i dont even use psn but i can get free games for my psp!
Oh well. This sucks, but it isn't something to start bitching about. Some pro hackers fucked them up and now they are building a more secure system. Bitching about the date will not speed things up, it will only make things worse.
L.A. Noire please, and i might forgive you Sony ;)
Talk about giving plenty of time to mull over that tradein deal. Guess Portal 2's co-op will be ready right in time for my final exams.
As long as PSN is back up before the Resident Evil 4 port is out I'm fine. Thankfully I wasn't affected by the hacking. There IS an advantage to being mainly an offline gamer on consoles. :D
So I get free games for not having to play with whining ten year olds on CoD? Great.
I want a free good new game for this. One that costs like, $60, instead of some cheap $3 game.
Expect a wide variety of choice with classics such as PAIN, and Ragdoll Kung Fu. What? You wanted more? Oh that slaps me on the knee.
If you guys actually read the article you'd know that they are brining online play back before bringing the store back, and by May 31'st PSN will be FULLY back.
I'm not really expecting to get anything for free. I mean, seriously, this outage is costing shitloads to Sony and then people who haven't paid a dime for the service come requesting full games for free? :v:

Might is the keyword there
I am replacing might with never.
I doubt this.
