Now for those who've been driving you've probably noticed that fuel prices are a total "wtf" and are a bit over the top.
Around my area it is 122.9p for a litre of petrol, or just over 4 litres per £5 put in.
Now in my opinion, the money used to pay for the fuel, could at least be used in some sort of researching for a better fuel source. Like Hydrogen or Nuclear (epic crashes!!!) power.
From 1 dollar worth of fuel
* Taxes: 15 %
* Distribution and Marketing: 11 %
* Refining: 7 %
* Crude oil: 67 %
This would in turn would reduce oil costs as currently "in the United States, something like 178 million gallons of gasoline is consumed every day."
That's a bit much, but I guess at your super high price of $4 a gallon when it peaked really high It's totally bad.
I personally would love to pay £2.61 a gallon, thats only what, 57p a litre, you guys are lucky.
Internet tells me its currently $2.60 a gallon, holy jesus thats £1.70 bloooooooody hell!!!
I miss the days where it was around a £1 for a litre, now it's getting stupid.
ITT: Talk about petrol.

Use LPG, cheaper job done.
Unless we stop being fags who depend on oil bad things will happen :ohdear:
I mean, seriously, we're still burning coal to produce electricity when nuclear power is safer (But not much cheaper, I give you that)
A solar satellite one mile in diameter orbiting the Earth could power and entire city. 200 of those, the entire world.
I think gas prices here in Northern VA are like, 2.50 A gallon
Yeah gas prices here in San Diego range from about $2.50-$3.00 a gallon, it isn't too bad, at least not like in years past to where it got up to $6.00 a gallon.

Agree'd, peak oil is also kinda scary
we pay like $5.53 normally now (where i live).. if you convert it
I'm going to e-mail my representative about giving tax credits to every gas station that installs hydrogen pumps and every dealership that sells hydrogen cars over the next two years. I suggest you do the same.

It's the other way round. It's alot cheaper than coal but less safer (but still pretty safe).
Also it's not like we can just shoot up some stuff into space. It's not feasible to have a shitton of stuff floating in space, especially with the size of a mile. There's missing ressources for that.
In Finland, the cheapest diesel in the country is 1.069€ per litre. Thats $5.478 per gallon.
Goddamnit, and I thought I was gonna have something to be smug about. Guess not.
My uncle owns an offshore Natural Gas company down here in Texas. He's made a fuckload of money in the past 10 years.

Actually, it would be possible to use Thorium instead of uranium now. The only reason they used Uranium over thorium is due to the byproducts it created for use in weaponry. Thorium is abundant, safer (no meltdown possible) and more effective.

Try telling that to the oil industry.
Hungary suffers from high gas prices as well. Less than a year ago it used to be around 260HUF(~1.3 USD) per litre, now it's up to 330HUF(1.7 USD). The government claims that it's expensive because they tax it more, in order to maintain the roads, which isn't true at all, the roads are in really bad condition in most of the smaller towns.
Hydrogen fuel cell.
All we need to do is make it safe to use in cars...

Well last time I checked a coal power plant just burns col, heats water, the steam moves a turbine and generates power.
A nuclear fission reactor requires a lot of money is is quite an engineering challenge (Unless you copy-paste old blueprints lolololol).

Also all modern reactors are adapted to Thorium.
Last time I fueled my car (friday) it was 13.34,- (norwegian kroner) per liter. That's about £1.33
so expensive :byodood:
The united states pays more in taxes for oil than we do for the physical oil

Btw here's how the price of gas (bensiini) and diesel is formed in Finland.

violet: excise tax
red: value added tax
Green: raw materials
yellow: processing
cyan: marketing
black: transporting
So we're actually paying 60% of the price of gas in taxes
The main cost of our fuel goes to the government. For every £1.20 you pay per litre of petrol, about 70p of that is going to the government in tax and duty. Britain actually imports fuel at one of the lowest costs in Europe, then our greedy government adds their taxes and charges us some of the highest prices. What a fucking joke, I actually hate the UK these days, Labour has completley ruined this country.
Gas near me sits about $3.00 per gallon. Which, in the UK might not seem very high and you probably want it to be that low, but we all spend our money differently and where we are that is a high amount compared to everything else.

Seriously, Petrol is ridiculous.
We can't go on like this chaps.
Prices in my city: from about R$2.2 to 3.2 a liter, that's about $1.246 to $1.813 a liter > 0.923 to 1.342 euros > £0.811 to 1.18
Anyway, this what petrol causes in Brazil: Everytime someone tries launching a car NOT moved by the usual gas (like the battery moved cars) Petrobras (the country's main petrol producer) goes there and buys EVERY SINGLE of this kind of car for sale, so that the rest of the people continue stuck to the stupid gas :argh:
I'm paying $1.04 CDN/Litre. That's $3.80 USD/Gallon or £2.5/Gallon
I love how google can do currency and unit conversion at the same time
nothing like a little liquid confidence.
