[QUOTE]Ukrainian law enforcement agencies said Monday they have no information about the whereabouts of President Viktor Yanukovych, who reportedly was seen in Sevastopol, a port on Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula that is the home of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
After signing an agreement with the opposition to end a conflict that turned deadly, Yanukovych fled the capital for eastern Ukraine. Ukraine’s border service said he tried to fly out of the country Saturday from Donetsk but was stopped by their officials.
Opposition lawmaker Volodym Kurennoy said on his Facebook page that he had unconfirmed information that the president had been arrested in Crimea.
Ukrainain news portal Liga.net reports that Sevastopol residents saw Yanukovych in the company of Russian marines. The claim could not be independently verified.
Spokespersons for the regional and national Interior Ministry and Security Service said Monday they had no such information.
Yanukovych set off a wave of protests by shelving an agreement with the EU in November and turning toward Russia, and the movement quickly expanded its grievances to corruption, human rights abuses and calls for Yanukovych’s resignation.

If they did seceed (as should be their right if they feel they are no longer being fairly represented following a violent change of government) then would russia intervene to protect the seperated state? Especially since there is a russian base there which the anti-russian/nationalist groups would likely want to seize.

Wounded by a grenade, killed in captivity and sodomised by a bayonet.
I think the Ukrainians are a little above that.

May I remind you that less than a week ago they were shooting each other over this.

If anything, the Russians would come in to try to get that warm water port.

Yeah how dare they not sit there and just die.

Killing an unarmed prisoner is pretty serious stuff. There are criminals on both sides but the protesters have at least had the decency to treat their prisoners well.

Exactly. So the best solution to stop further fighting is to hold an election where everybody has a fair chance at representation. Even if its those from the east who want more russian stuff their rights should still be addressed. And its in everybody's interests to distance themselves from those far right groups, they're just pure trouble.
Manifesto stuff of stuff about ethnicity, that is just asking for a world of trouble in east Ukraine.
Laserguided why do you have to make so many fucking Russian threads?

maybe he has an interest in the country?

People have a habit of making threads in SH about certain topics they feel strongly about, or are just interested in about, for example:

Succession or secession?

You've seen how corrupt the government is; a voting would be faked in a second.

You'd be surprised, stuff like that can happen anywhere under the right circumstances and people are killed in captivity all the time, usually by other prisoners here in the United States.
