My apologies if I'm late, site:facepunch.com can only take you so far.
This is the thing I've been wanting to hear more about.
That definitely looks like Dunia. Movements and animations are very familiar. The guns look like bb guns though. I'd like them to add in a mechanic for the wiring. I hope they updated the shadow systems, looking at the FC2 shadow system on PC now it looks pretty bad. Major thing around 3:10 was they said you clean out the map and make travel easier. Bout damn time.
Looks sexy :D
Goatcraft: Far Cry 3
That's one fancy looking engine
Video game puns
That's one fancy looking engine
And I think that was the console version. I know they used a controller, but they could always plug in a controller to a gaming computer. Even though the radio tower/GPS jammer stuff seemed way too much like Assassin's Creed, this looks really promising. The enemies actually react to and die from your bullets, this is very innovative for Far Cry!
Holy shit, the part where they were tying all those video games into 1 long sentence :v:
Not a fan of the glowing/highlighted carcases to show that you can use it. I think the game should teach you that you can skin animals in a more subtle way than 'oh it is glowing that means I can skin it'
I loved how the auto-aim was turned up ridiculously high for the sake of the demo (or at least it was for the demo). You could see how hard it snapped to targets when he looked down the sights, which is why one of them made the remark, "That was a good shot, almost... too good," and they chuckled about it.
It's also good to see that stealth works properly here! I remember in FC2 they showed that you could shoot a guy from ages away with a noisy sniper rifle and his mates wouldn't know where you were. I went to do that in the retail version with a silent dart rifle and got 99 bullets in the neck before I even felt the recoil
"Jason hears the call of duty and sees an opportunity for a medal of honor, so he heads out into the battlefield to try to try and resolve the crysis in uncharted terrority. It's kind of the borderland between the series." Videogame puns
I have very high hopes for this game. Farcry 2 was a diamond in the rough that was plagued by bad writers and just poor development. The central idea and mechanics of the game were great though with a buddy system, degrading guns, first aid system, impressive day night schedule, as well as a weather and environment simulation that could reproduce surprisingly good brush fires and explosions. This is DEFINITELY the Dunia engine and it looks to be running absolutely brilliantly while still looking nice despite that fact this gameplay demo is being run on an xbox 360 so that means it should run flawlessly on the PC. I'm rather impressed on several points including the tweaked and upgraded fire/environment system since wooden structures are now affected and fire susceptible. They fixed one of the largest flaws that plagued Far Cry 2: Enemy encampments. In FC2 You would spend 10 minutes taking out an encampment of soldiers only to walk 5 foot and have them all respawn throughout the whole duration of the game. You ended up getting irritated enough to just get frustrated and drive through the camps as quickly as possible dealing with the annoying soldier following suit in a car after barreling down the paths. In FC3 it's a one time deal and thank the gods for that. Stealth seems actually POSSIBLE now as opposed to FC2 where it seemed as if every enemy had a mental connection with each other and could sense a disturbance in their mind matrix when Jarik was sliced into jerky via machete and know the who/what/where/when and begin emptying their magazines into you. Stealth was possible, but very hard to actually do thanks to the game. From watching this it appears as if stealth is something they really worked on and want you to try out, where every enemy can be picked off after learning his path without alerting the whole camp. Good on 'em! Fire still seems INCREDIBLY ineffective however. In the demo, the player hit the ground directly under an NPC with a fire arrow and the ground erupted in hellish flames that seemed to have engulfed the NPC, yet he was unaffected and just carried on like it was a hot day in the Rook Islands. Even before that, he threw a Molotov relatively close to 2 NPCS who dealt no damage, finally he threw a second which only cause 1 npc out of the 2 hit to ignite and take damage. Crafting looks interesting and as well as a great response to the conflicts plaguing FPS games now of either "2 guns only" or "every gun ever". Want to carry an assault rifle, pistol, sniper rifle and a machine pistol? BY GOD GO OUT AND DO IT! Just craft some holster first. How to to craft holsters? go out and KILL MY BOY MUHAHAH! If you think being able to carry so many armaments is ridiculous, then go ahead and just not equip more holsters and have fun making wallets to hold more money in and focus on fletching. Kind of like Skyrim's system which made hunting something actually worth doing for fun instead of just setting off and running over a Gnu for no reason or angrily killing one for getting in the way. Now each kill is fun and useful. However, in the Demo i didn't see anything like weapon degradation which is something i REALLY liked about fc2. I hope both that and the buddy system makes a return. Especially if it's the same buddy system as before where your buddy can die and you can make a choice between helping them, or giving them a mercy killing and never being able to see them in the game again.

Hopefully the field of view for the PC version won't be 15°
they added blur, thats why it kinda looks "next gen" now.
I like the fact that it's vibrant and not just a sea of brown and grey.
You know, I was feeling really on the fence before, but I do think I might end up getting it now after watching this trailer.
However, in the Demo i didn't see anything like weapon degradation which is something i REALLY liked about fc2. I hope both that and the buddy system makes a return.
I found myself frustrated with FC2's weapon degradation system, with every single enemy holding a pile of rust that made it nearly impossible to ever have a gun in decent condition. System Shock 2 had a similar system, but what I liked about that was how you could spend resources to improve the condition of the gun, and if it was to eventually disintegrate in your hands, you could enter a minigame to repair it. However, the downside to trying to repair it is that if you screw up, you destroy the weapon.
I Hope the Blur on EVERYTHING can be turned off/down in the PC version, it was really distracting.

For fun i played the game on hardest difficulty and i used the same weapon until it broke; it rarely happened. The weapon would misfire and jam quite often but that lead to more fun in firefights where i had to duck into cover while my character frantically tried to free a half ejected shell. So really, all you needed to do was occasionally visit the arms dealer which are located everywhere. That does look rather nice. So many games coming out within the next month, I'm gonna struggle to play them all.
these guys should do lets plays
Hm. Interesting.
these guys should do lets plays
It's weird because these guy's are mostly boring and the video is filled with "uh......." and "um....."'s with bouts of no dialogue at all but when they're funny, they're funny.
Looks like they found out everything wrong with Far Cry 2 and fixed it. Surprisingly it looks really great. Also those two guys did a great job, it must be hard to find two guys to make entertaining/informative videos that actually have relevance with the games production.
I know it's the same setting and all, but it really does look a lot like the first Crysis. Especially that little shore with the wooden pier. It looks exactly like a scene from crysis which I guess is a good thing, but Crysis still looks a bit nicer. and it's from 5 years ago
