I'm happy with that.
Alright, that's pretty cool. But seriously, get something done already, Congress, so we don't have to be in this position much longer.
They all really shouldn't be getting paychecks if they really want to sell this "government shutdown" bullshit. But that is pretty fucking awesome, not something I expected from such a group of people. It's nice to see that a majority of them are donating their pay.

Fucking Oklahoma eh I'm assuming most of these people are rich anyways.
debbie stabenow is pretty cool old lady to have as a senator
Heidi Heitkamp, D-North Dakota John Hoeven, R-North Dakota
:) I honestly could see Heidi running for President some day.
Awesome, this is a nice thing to see.
Even if they did change their pay to nothing it wouldn't take effect for a couple of years due to the 27th amendment.
I thought the 27th amendment only applied to raises, not reductions in pay.
I thought the 27th amendment only applied to raises, not reductions in pay.
"No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened."
I thought the 27th amendment only applied to raises, not reductions in pay.
Its for any change.
wow there's not many from ohio we have 16 and only like 4 are donating/not taking, and none of them are from the democrats [editline]3rd October 2013[/editline] its kinda bad when you realise that this could potentially roll on for 2 weeks, then we get things going and november's debt ceiling fucks it up again
Neither of my senators are doing anything but keeping their money, but at least my rep is refusing pay. He owns a lot of businesses around here anyway, it's not as if he'll go broke without it.
They should be giving the money to the furloughed employees, but charity works too.
They should be giving the money to the furloughed employees, but charity works too.
There's thousands and thousands of furloughed employees, even with the great cash these guys makes, it wouldn't amount to much to each individual employee.
They all really shouldn't be getting paychecks if they really want to sell this "government shutdown" bullshit.
Why though? This wasn't caused by every single congressman acting in unison.
Many of the Republicans refusing their salaries are the same assholes that demanded a shutdown because they hate the idea of helping poor people get healthcare and they think businesses should have the right to deny contraceptive coverage to women for any reason. FUCK THEM. Do not give those people an inch for trying to act all noble and not keep their salaries.

And a good deal more of each that are keeping it all.
Rather interesting that the party spread is more or less even. Proof that there's idiots on both sides of the aisle. Makes me wonder if those that aren't keeping their pay are doing it genuinely or just to get reelected, though..
Well lets remember they're all seriously wealthy people that could always do with some good PR, but the not-cynical half of me wants to rate this Friendly.
Well lets remember they're all seriously wealthy people that could always do with some good PR, but the not-cynical half of me wants to rate this Friendly.
My representative owns a ton of different businesses plus some real estate around my district so he's not exactly suffering at this. Personally, I'd like them to not receive anything all the time.
