The 58-year-old from Staten Island, New York, said: 'I started creating sand sculptures with my kids about 18 years ago while we were on vacation.
'I saw someone create something in the sand, and I thought, "gee, I can do this."

'These days I don't really create sand castles - what I do is make people smile and that's become it for me.'
His work has taken him across the world where he builds sculptures for private parties, events and corporations.
The fairy palace features a staircase wrapping around a high tower supported by intricate arches - made only of sand and water.
It is so detailed, individual 'bricks' are visible and passersby can see every tiny window.
Mr Long, who has placed in world championship sand sculpting competitions, was built to showcase his talents.
About two weeks old, but I couldn't find anything about it here.
Dream job right here
Bottom left. Just. How.
It's honestly incredible how talented and careful people are. Yeah, you used your incredible talent to pretty much create stable, self-supporting, sand sculptures. Most people I know can barely make a functioning single tower castle.
i will take the role as beach bully

His dreams will crumble like dust in the rain.
There isn´t much difference to some artist who carves sculptures out of other materials. Only that he can fix a chipped of piece unlike wooden stuff, and that the rain will carry away anything.
It is basicly the RAM of sculpturing, cut off the power supply and the data is away. Metal or wooden sculpturing is like the ROM of sculpturing.
These aren't sand castles...
They're SAND MUTHA DUCKIN FORTRESSES OF ART!

It's ok, because then he's paid to build more.
My brother once sculpted a life size mermaid laying in the sand at the beach, I really wish I had some pics because it was fucking awesome and a lot of people came to see it
Heh, it looks like great art and good quality artists have become very newsworthy these days - so many stories about old art, rediscovered art, and modern works of art that are a joy to behold with how good they are.
watch as everyone destroy it

How does this shit not collapse? HOW?
I just wanna jump into one.

You'll say that.
And then you spend several hours, no rest, simply just focusing on a section of the castle.
And then you have mother nature and idiots that my potentially fuck your work.
And then you have 50 more on your waiting list from people who want you to create sand castles.
People that destroy other people's sandcastles deserve a fate worse than hell.

It's not much, but it's a start on not getting them to crumble all the time.
This restaurant I go to in Panama City Beach always has these huge inticate sand sculptures for Easter, I wonder if he makes them.

There are a surprising amount of people that do this sort of thing. I've seen sand sculptures like this in multiple places in the US.
