And it happened in my town. Being italian though, I have to add that italians (also italian politics) are very hateful towards romanians and albanians. And I mean very. I am of the idea that this is completely racist, and if I had stolen a box of chocolates you can be sure this would'nt have happened. His actions clearly demonstrated that he regretted what he did almost immediately, and panicked - maybe because, as a member of a persecuted minority group, he knew he'd likely get into more trouble than he should have. You can't say that racial tensions had nothing to do with it if you aren't intimately familiar with the social dynamics (which, as someone from the US, I'm guessing you aren't). And are you seriously arguing that two years in jail in addition to a fine is an appropriate sentence for 'knocking over police'? Two fucking years?

It's not actually Romanians who do this, it's a part of the Romanian population. They are the gypsies. Don't get me wrong, there are actually some great gypsy people out there, but like 70-90% of them are thieves and such. Now, I'm not trying to be racist, but let me tell you a few things about them.. The average gypsy woman will most likely have more than 6 kids (that's to leech off our tax money), they start sexual life at around 8 years old (with partners older than them), the parents send their children on the streets to beg for money from random people, all the money they get is spent on booze. However, this only applies to the majority of them. The cool gypsies actually use their head. And I actually befriended 2 of them. Man, we spent a lot of time playing PC games on their shitty PC's :p
