• Software-based midi sequencers

Quick question which I've probably already answered myself. For Christmas I received a Korg Microstation. Though I'm quite satisfied with the everything, I find the built-in grid sequencer tedious to program, and am in search of any software with a grid sequencer to control the synth via midi. I'm not one for using DAWs or music software in general for that matter (aside from the iOS-based software synths and audacity for mastering and combining layers etc), but I do have LMMS sitting on my hard drive and I believe this has what I need. Could anybody confirm that its midi-sequencer is indeed what I'm looking for and maybe point me in the right direction in LMMS? Once again, I'm looking for essentially a software-based grid sequencer to control the microstation. It's weird but I've never used midi before so I'm a bit of a newbie with this stuff. I've been able to avoid it so far as all of the iOS-based synths I use (Animoog, nLog Pro, iMS-20 and iElectribe) have various forms of built-in realtime recording features.
LMMS will work. And virtually all contemporary DAWs can sequence MIDI.
