UK government needs to stand their ground harder in the sense that peoples religious ideologies not being met (hence they become offended) shouldn't grant you extra rights solely for religious reasoning. Especially when the ideology isn't compatible with the western culture, or the British law.

Christianity, both western catholicism, and eastern orthodoxy are power based structures and often were hand with the government Just consider the ceasaropapinism. Or the battles of investiture. Western governments on the other hand were founded often on the opposition to religion. The worldly ruler was trying to be absolutistic and control his land in spite of religion. As such they tended to push a strong seperation. Likewise protestant movements tended to be opposed to the power structure in catholicism and as such tended to not be so governmtal based. Hell a lot protestantism has going for it is a disorganisation of religion. A personal belief over an ordained one. What islam does is essentially combine protestantist disorganised aproaches with catholic and orthodox power structures. That's why there's no such thing as an islamic pope.
