Google Inc. is set to reveal an online picture sharing and storage service that will no longer be part of the Google+ social network, people familiar with the plans said.
The new photo tool, which will let users post images to Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc., will probably be unveiled at Google's annual software developers conference in San Francisco later this month, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private.
Google I/O is next week, they'll probably announce it then
They have also reintroduced special Twitter results to Google search, having previously abandoned that around the time of Google+'s launch. All in all it looks like they're slowly moving away from G+
About time, maybe we can get the old comment system back to youtube too.

I'd rather just not have comments on youtube videos, truth be told.

You can simply just avoid scrolling down, or get an extension to remove it.
Really, the comments section can be really good on smaller or more mature channels.

in retrospect the comment system really hasn't changed all that much aside from having to use a throwaway G+ account

And the fact that downvoting does absolutely nothing. I really hate the "top comments" bullshit.

Well, comparing to oldschool YT comments, now you mostly just see fad accounts or popular Youtubers there, with the likes of Pressfarttocontinue.
As much as I disliked how Google+ was forced upon us with YouTube, I kinda wish it had taken off and replaced Facebook, especially with the way Facebook has gravitated toward click bait and other ads that you can't hide.
Can they keep Hangouts? It's nice to have something which isn't as restrictive as Skype. Plus, Skype seems to constantly make crackling noises roughly every hour whenever I'm on call, which is shit.

Get an extension and don't force this shit on anyone else

What is the deal with that guy? I don't get it. Is he a bot or something?

I find that the most spam and advertising on Facebook comes from the actual people. Roughly 70% of my news feed is taken up by people sharing videos from LADBible, sharing articles from Buzzfeed, and inviting me to join useless shit.
The mistake that Google made with Google+, which has still left me sour, is the forced integration with YouTube. Nobody wanted it, nobody asked for it, and their attempt to force people in to the ecosystem actually left YouTube in a worse state than it was before.

Not quite. He simply comments on a -lot- of gaming-related videos. I tried doing the same thing with a dummy account a year back, and before too long, a few people were all "I see you everywhere!" while mindlessly thumbing the comment up.
So why not rip Google+ out of Picasa and then shine it up?

Hangouts won't go anywhere, I think it's rumoured to break off from G+ as well in the near future
Hangouts is already essentially separate from G+ anyway, you can use it without ever having to go to plus.google.com

After using it for a long time. I think I prefer the new system. Especially when moderating comments on my channel.
