Meet Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch in Assassin’s Creed.Based on the massively popular — and prolific — video-game series of the same name, the movie version is set to open in theaters Dec. 21, 2016.
Before hardcore Assassin's Creed gamers start scratching their heads (and filling up the comments) about how exactly Callum Lynch fits into the game world, we can tell you that Fassbender’s character was created specifically for the film. (The movie isn’t retelling any of the existing games, but rather introducing new characters into the same world.)
Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.
Also starring Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave), and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight), cameras start rolling for Assassin's Creed on Monday. Filming is set to happen in Malta, London, and Spain.
it's an original movie set in the AC universe

How much do you want to bet that the movie is going to be filled with bugs. Somehow.

Well
I'm hyped for Fassbender I guess
It can't be worse than the Hitman movie.
Right guys?

which one, the new one?
it sucks? ohh...
this series hit its peak when Italian adam sandler beat up an old fat guy
just let it die :(
IMO, he doesn't look very Spanish.
The AC: Lineage short series were done by Ubisoft supervision (?), and those were good, I do not understand why anyone else would do this. Why?!
An Assassin's Creed film series has so much potential for greatness, I really want this to be good... but the fact that it's not based solely on the games has me little worried. Will they be able to make it as interesting as the games at their top?
you know, much like the first non-Lucas Star Wars, I think the first non-Ubisoft AC Media is going to be alright.
I hope they release one a year
Holy fuck I think this is the first time I've ever seen a character in fiction with my name. And it's the AssCreed movie. Kill me.

Your name is Callum Lynch?
Michael Fassbender is a great actor, I have faith he can make it look decent.
What use is that with a shitty script?
Yeah, and it even has Ubisoft's backing on this too. They want it to be extremely faithful to the series, which no other major live-action film has ever done.

It was written by the same person who wrote A Good Day to Die Hard and the other Hitman movie.
I don't know why he still has a job.
that's because skip woods is a fake name used by writers who don't want their actual names attached to projects. they just want a quick buck.
He was the saving grace in Prometheus, so if nothing else the movie will still have his stellar acting.
This movie is going to need a lot of CGI considering it will have scenes like this:

I know there's an ugly and lengthy track record with these kind of movies but Ubisoft seems to want a loyal film and with how cinematic the series naturally is, they wouldnt have to stretch the script like so many video game movies do. Plus the costume design is spot on as far as I'm concerned, and the only questionable aspect right now is the director but I don't think he's done anything worthy of being totally written off.
The premise sounds interesting at least.
Prince Of Persia was an OK video game based movie, and it's an Ubisoft IP.

Too bad all video game movies aren't made by the same people. That said, the director of this made this film previously which got really good reviews:

so this might just be cool.
on another note, i don't follow these games at all but I thought having those wrist daggers required you to lose a finger or something?
Cautiously optimistic.
I like Michael Fassbender and the fact it's a new character and a different story in the lore is also a good sign as game movies that tell a story already shown in the games tend to be absolute shit.

You just lift your hand up and a dagger will come up. Just like Spider-Man but without the hand posing.
Its not Ezio for the 10th time? This could be good for sure.

Yes but only in the first games they mention this, later they get better technology and you don't need to sacrifice your finger anymore.
I kinda go through these games like butter so I don't really pay attention much to the story.

Altair changed the Hidden Blade design after getting the Apple of Eden, so no need to remove the finger anymore

He /is/ missing his right finger on one hand, though.
i like the look
