And, no, it's not another case of bed bugs or people getting lost in their dimly lit stores. This time, the mass retailer is facing racial discrimination accusations from their recently opened South Korea outpost. For the grand opening of the first Hollister store in Korea in Yeouido, models dressed as lifeguards were flown in to take photos with customers -- you know, the same drill we get stateside. Something we don't see during the store openings here in the states? Models flipping their middle finger and mocking the customers. Lee Hyung-Ju described the offensive actions on the English Korean news site koreaBANG: "Images of models making 'squinty eyes' faces, flipping their middle finger to photographers, and mocking Asian pronunciation of English appeared on their Twitter accounts." Hollister had brought in four models for the marketing event that lasted from August 30 until September 2, according to koreaBANG. But, customers soon discovered that a couple of the models had posted offensive pictures to their Twitter accounts. One photo features a Hollister model standing in front of Gyeongbokkung Palace, squinting his eyes and making peace signs with his fingers. When one commenter remarked on how many Asians had liked the photo, he responded, "Hahahaha they ruhhvvvv itttt!" To make matters worse, it was discovered that a third model had flashed his middle finger during the photo session at the store opening and went on to post his own mocking photos on Twitter, according to koreaBANG. Local papers have been covering the controversy, and Korean customers have started to threaten boycotts. Hollister was quick to respond with an apology on their Facebook page: "In summary, the company terminated the couple of associates involved. On behalf of our more than 80,000 associates around the world who cherish our core values and our culture of diversity and inclusion, we sincerely apologize for the offense caused by these unauthorized, ill-considered actions."
Well thanks for fitting the stereotype, Hollister. GG.
why would you choose to take on a job that involves interacting with people you dont like. i mean it doesn't seem like these models were desperate for money.

The store overflows with fucking douchebaggery. They play loud fucking music and the store smells like someone blew up a crate of AXE deodorant spray. I get a fucking headache from just walking past that store.

easy to get a job there but it fucking sucks working there, friend said it was a shit hole and you had to act like a mannequin most of the time
All there shit is so expensive too, I went in there with my sister once and they were selling a long sleeved collard shirt for 35 dollars. Who even pays that much for a shirt.

But over all, Hollister is just generally overpriced and the logo branded products they pump out are not particularly stylish or fashionable. Nothing makes you look more like a twelve year old that being a brand whore and plastering logos all over yourself.

So many girls here love a man in all Hollister.
Same goes for American Eagle, and Aeropostale.
American Eagle makes nice shoes at least
I enjoy how their statement talked about diversity when everyone who works there looks the exact same.
people who want a product that looks good and doesn't fall apart after 1 wash? walmart isn't the only place to get clothes you know
It's not like this is a one or the other situation. $35 for a shirt is fucking laughable. You can probably find a $15 shirt with a similar or exact same design, just without their name slapped on it that will last just as long, sometimes longer, from a wide variety of both chain or independent clothes stores. Plus you won't have to actually enter either Hollister or Walmart that way!

Especially for a decent button down that fits well and will last a long time. I don't mind paying that much for a shirt, especially if I know I'm going to be wearing it a lot and I need it to look more than presentable. (Then again, I come from the mystical land of FULS, so my ideas on clothing might be a little bit skewed)
I went to a Hollister store once, all I saw were photos of men with 1/4 exposed penises :(

No, what pisses me off is when you see plain white t-shirts with a brand name on them and other stupid shit like this for $100 and up.
may I see picture of what it looks lie ( SK One ) to see what there talking about . ? [editline]11th September 2012[/editline]
The store overflows with fucking douchebaggery. The shirts I get normally run between $25 and $45. But they are possibly the most comfortable shirts I've ever worn.
Here's a picture of said douchebag.
fire them
Sucks for Hollister, that's for sure. I mean, out of all the models they have, somebody really messed up by sending the racist ones. Then again it's probably an honest mistake, it's corporate and all so these things happen. Still, I hope that person doesn't lose their job, that would be terrible. :(
Going into Hollister or Abrecombrie, you would need a flashlight, gas mask and some earplugs to even navigate that shit hole. Clothes are shit, prices are shit.
can someone tell what so big about them
It's funny because these douchebags get more pussy than any of you. (Or any male model for that matter unless they're gay) Hence, Hollister works, and so does good looks.

If they can't get that right then they're pretty shit at their job.

The problem with Aeropostale is that its expensive and the clothe quality is shit. Say what you want about American Eagle but they have some comply ass well fit shirts at a good price (at least around here)
And the middle finger lol
