Hey Facepunch! I'm in a good mood because I cooked an awesome meal last night so I'm gonna share!
Do you like fried chicken? And onion rings? And delicious chips? (French fries for americans) then listen here! I'm going to give you an awesome recipe.
You will need:
1 Large White Onion, Sweet. (The flatter the better, though if it's too flat you'll need two)
3 Medium to Large Potatoes
2-3 Chicken Breasts, boneless, skinless
3 cups flour
2 COLD bottles of Brown Ale (I used Pecan Ale, but any brown lager or beer works)
1.5 tablespoons baking powder
1.5 teaspoons salt
1.5 teaspoons any seasoning blend
Pre-Heat oven to 200 degrees and have 2 cookie sheets with a wire rack over them in the oven. Heat a pan of oil (or deep fat fryer if you have it) to ~300 degrees. It needs to be deep, at least 8 inches of oil with 6 inches of side walls.
First:
Clean the onion (cut ends off and deskin) then slice into 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick slices (leave circular). Set aside in a bowl. Next, thoroughly wash the potatoes and peel if desired (I find they're best if not peeled). julienne and submerge in a bowl of cold water for 15 minutes.
Now make the batter. Measure out 3 cups of all purpose flour into a large mixing bowl, mix in the baking powder, salt, and seasoning. Open up the bottles of COLD beer (they MUST be cold) and pour them into the flour. Mix thoroughly until there are no lumps.
Let it sit while you slice the chicken breasts into strips (one to one and a half inches thick). Drain the potatoes and dry in a large clean towel. Salt to taste.
Begin frying. Start with the Chicken, then the Onion rings, then the potatoes. Make sure the batter completely covers what you're frying and you get the excess off before placing into the oil. Gently lower it in, don't just drop it in. Turn them around a bit, take them out when the batter is a deep golden brown and place them on the wire rack on the cookie sheet in the oven. Batter everything, the chicken, onions, and potatoes. They're really fucking good.
Sit back with another cold beer and your favourite dipping sauce. Cheers!
Obesity can be so tasty
Well, OK then.
No mars bars?

eh julienning is thicker in the states, I think. I have a potato julienner (how it was advertised) that cuts the potato into 1-2cm strips.
