Didn't see any previous DJ Shadow threads, so I thought I should make one! Here goes. Joshua Paul Davis (DJ Shadow) is an American producer, DJ and songwriter. He is and has been a very prominent figure on the instrumental Hip-Hop scene. He began his career working as a DJ for a radio station at the University of California. He went on to experiment using a four-track recorder. His two earliest singles "In/Flux" and "Lost and Found" merge a feel of funk rock with ambient hip-hop, jazz and soul. In 1993 Shadow began to collaborate with rappers Gift of Gab and Lyrics Born with the underground hip-hop label Solesides, going on to create the album "Entropy". Shadow then went on to collaborate with many rappers and hip-hop artists, such as Lateef and Zaakir of Jurassic 5. My personal favourite collaboration involving DJ Shadow is the Quannum Project, of which my favourite production is "The Quannum Spectrum". For example: (It says it's by J5 but it's not, although Zaakir does feature on it) The Man Himself: DJ Shadow's most famous work is probably his debut album "Endtroducing.....", which was released in 1996, and is an album comprised purely of samples. So yeah, that's DJ Shadow. Here are some of what I think are his best tracks: A Remix of the original with Mos Def, I think it's better than the original: His live performances are also great: So, I hope the thread wasn't too bad, apologies if it was. Never posted in this section much before. Tell me what you think of DJ Shadow!
I've only listened to Endtroducing, but GOG DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN it's such a great album.
I couldn't really get into his other albums as much as Endtroducing.
Endtroducing is amazing, it was one of the first records I bought on vinyl. One of my favourite albums of all time. I don't rate his others as highly. The Private Press is pretty good though.
Endtroducing was an accidental masterpiece. We have to forgive that because we all know he can't better it. I actually like his new album though. It ain't bad.

Fresh? - I don't reckon he started collaborating with Gift of Gab and Lyrics born in 1933... As far as shadow goes, I quite like Entroducing and Private Press, but again bar a few tunes I don't think they are anywhere near classic status at all. Good albums at best. The Outsider and the new one are pretty turd to be honest too. DJ Shadow on wiki
Shit - that was meant to be 1993, sorry I'll edit it now.
