LOS ANGELES - THE new Harry Potter film will only be released in standard 2-D next month, after the US studio making it said on Friday it had abandoned efforts to convert the movie into a 3-D version in time. Warner Brothers Entertainment had hoped to be able to transform the film into 3-D format, which has taken off this year as an ever-growing number of blockbusters are produced using the eye-popping technology. But 'despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality,' the studio said in a statement about the latest big-screen instalment of J.K. Rowling's saga. 'We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on Nov 19, 2010, as planned. 'We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate 'Harry Potter' experience,' Warner added. The final chapter of the Harry Potter saga will be released in two parts: Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 in November, followed by Part 2 which is scheduled for release next July, in both 2-D and 3-D formats. Plans to convert 2-D films to 3-D - as opposed to made from scratch in 3-D - have come under heavy criticism in Hollywood after the 3-D release of Clash Of The Titans was a major flop.

http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Lifestyle/Story/STIStory_588574.html
I'm not a fan of "fake" 3-D movies. Lazy studios if you ask me.
Good.
Good.
This. Also avatar fits.
I generally hate it when cinemas show films in 3D and not 2D, most of the time there's absolutely no need for the film to be in 3D.
Hah, it's funny how everywhere in my Cinema they advertise it as 3d

I'm okay with this, I couldn't afford much the 3-D IMAX stuff anyways. The only movies I've seen in IMAX 3-D is Avatar and Toy Story 3. Got to admit while Avatar's plot was meh, the 3-D effects was awesome and Toy Story 3's effect managed to be subtle yet pleasing to see.
It's about time that someone listen.
Thank god.
Awesome.
3D is only a gimmick anyway. The newest Resident Evil movie was like HEY YOU, LOOK AT THIS IT'S 3D. HOW ABOUT SOME MORE?
Thank you for not making it 3D. I really don't get the amazement of it and I never learned to get wet pants from having something pop out of the screen, only to have the illusion broken by the screen's borders.
I've only seen 1 3D film - Toy Story 3 - which by all circumstances should be good to convert to 3D because it's made inside a computer... suffice to say, I did not notice the 3D the entire film. I also seemed to notice that the film was rather boxed compared to the 2D Inception I'd seen a few days earlier. Good riddance this fad is finally coming to an end. By the way, you can convert 3D films to 2D using this clever trick
Depth Perception 3D is awesome. Gimmicky "whoa it's coming right at my face" 3D is stupid as shit and needs to be culled from theaters

I would have never thought of that, that's pretty handy.
Wasn't going to watch it in 3D anyways. 2D all the way!
This pleases me.
But you're a wizard Harry!

oh thank fuck.
I am kinda surprised that a big movie like that actually isn't following the fad.
Someone didn't read the OP. They did try, but they ran out of time.
Some movies didn't try, but still release 3d. Bad one that's it. But hey, it's threedee, cashcashcash
If you're immersed enough, 2D can seem 3D.
Yes. Yeeeeessss.
Jaws 3D was hilarious
IT'S COMING RIGHT AT US!!!!
A fine example of a movie that doesn't need 3D is Jackass 3D
At least the stuff they do in the movie makes up for the 3D gimmick.
