Visited this place a few years back but didn't take any video. Had to go and check it out again.
Things are going downhill fast. More buildings demolished, driveways to empty lots, the abandoned highway is peeling back and buckling more. More steam coming out of the ground everywhere. More graffiti.
If it weren't for the few people still living there, the government would've come in and leveled this place already. People think its a conspiracy, that once they are out the government will tear up the ground and mine the good coal that is still down there.
A handful of people have already fallen through sink holes and almost died. Just a few feet underground the temp rises to well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and there is a lack of proper oxygen levels. So if you were to fall, and catch a root and hang on, you'll probably pass out before someone has time to come save you.
Locals have fried eggs on the sidewalk to show how hot the ground is. It took a while, but it is possible. Even in winter. It's not unbearable, it's like a hot plate more than a stove. If you sit, your ass will be feeling pretty toasty.
You should return there in 2016, just for the centennial vault. Check out that church, too!
It's very interesting if I do say so myself.
Its pretty amazing that many people came out to that road just to draw male genitalia on it.
so many penises
I remember when I went there, I think it was like 5 years ago. Very very creepy place I don't really know how to describe the feeling you get when standing in the cracked streets with smoke just coming out of the ground all around you.
You want me to go there and get some vidya???
I went there like 5 years ago or so, it's a really fucking creepy place.
The fact that the fire is still going is awesome
How do you travel around and make these so fast?
Why do the nine people live there? Is it a financial thing?

A few of the videos I posted recently are from 2 months ago. I was slowly working on all of them, and got to the point where a whole group got completed around the same time. I usually visit 1-2 locations a week.

It's a stubborn thing I guess. They refuse to be told what to do by the gov. They feel it is safe enough to still live there, and they think the gov only wants to come in to dig for all the valuable unburnt coal that is still down there. Residents don't believe that they want them out "for their own safety". So it's kind of a financial thing, on the government's side though.
Whenever I think I live in the most boring state in the country, I find cool stuff like this. I couldn't imagine how creepy and depressing it would be to live in that town.
You wouldn't think so, but everybody I saw there seemed to enjoy it. They all appeared up-beat, were out biking, jogging, or riding quads. People from Mt Carmel, the next town over, seem to come to Centralia like it is a park or something. Everyone I spoke to in Centralia was from Mt Carmel lol.

Try living beside Harrisburg

PA is far from the most boring. Think of the states between Michigan and Washington/Oregon. THOSE places are boring.

Also, I just realized how close I live to this town. I really need to go down there some time.
Not much going on in that video... mostly just a pile of steamy rocks and 4 minutes of a highway. Would have liked to see the actual town
If the road leading to your town has more dicks drawn on it that the amount of people who live in the town, you may have a problem.
The town is almost all demolished. A lot of empty neighborhood, roads to overgrown bushes, and driveways to vacant lots.
Oh, yes. The famous "Road of Dicks".

Truly an inspiring sight.
Somebody needs to call these guys.

I wonder if one really bored guy just painted all those dicks or if it was a collaboration.
Try visiting The Gates of Hell.
what's the centennial vault?

The small sewer drain that takes about 2-3 minutes to walk through in North Jersey that has been exaggerated to be a huge underground satanic cult complex by Weird NJ?
Sad thing is, the fact that more than likely, that the Centennial vault will never be opened.

Now that sounds interesting.
Also, I love the way you film your videos. Unlike other urbex videos, yours are especially pleasant to watch.

Also also, the town itself looks really small.

Is it possible to get to the town by car? Or are all the roads fucked beyond repair?

No? There are a couple of places in PA. One in Uniontown (which I'm talking about) which is supposed to be "haunted" and what not and another one in York apparently.

This book actually has what I'm talking about.
There's a bunch of weird shit in PA.
