4k is good enough for now. :v: I can't wait until it becomes standard and cheap as piss. [editline]8th October 2016[/editline] I just set my monitor to 4x DSR its currently 4k upscaled to 8k everything is TINY AAAAAAAAA [editline]8th October 2016[/editline] time to play ut99 cunts I'll tell you what happens after [editline]8th October 2016[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/v1SCug5.png[/t] this isn't working...
ME3 and Skyrim can run at 8K just fine, same for IsolAlien.
like this
It's fucking beautiful
this isn't working...
Someone should make a video game overlay which is basically a bunch of magnifiers you can position on the screen. Like the Windows XP magnifier. In some FPS games the HUD doesn't scale and is too small on high resolutions. So, if you have a tiny HUD element in the corners of the game, you just put a magnifier over them and it magnifies only that part of the screen while you play.
what even is this shading
Looks like some sort of z-depth based sub-surface scattering, which doesn't work very well at 8K due to banding in the z-depth map becoming extremely apparent at this resolution. (It's grayscale with 256 shades stretched over an 8K res) A fix could be to render the channel/pass in 10-bit mode instead of 8-bit (for 1024 shades instead of 256), or possibly apply some clever dithering.
I ended up going with a predator Z35 for my new monitor. 4K onwards kind've seems like a waste when you can have everything at 1080p with 200mhz refresh rate

regarding multiple titans, back when the original titan came out I built a renderbox with four of them set up, and a fifth one in the computer it was attached to for sake of a render farm. A while later we had 7 total linked up to that one computer [t]http://i.imgur.com/iXJ6vEX.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/1m5AreN.jpg[/t] as he mentions, the game has to support a number of things as well just to enable using anymore than two anyways

Menu's and everything scale fine enough, and the hud is easily legible. 8k though.... fuck me, I'd need a telescope to read that
I don't wanna be a dick but I think Linus dropped the ball on this one, their are actually displays that can reach up to resolutions of 8k for other purposes like medical equipment that use compatible outputs. Their was just an 8k 120hz monitor that hit the consumer market so he will likely revisit this one soon.
Their was just an 8k 120hz monitor that hit the consumer market
....what? Where is the 4K 120Hz that should have been before this step? [editline]asus[/editline] Apparently in development by Asus
honestly, the only reason we needed 4k is because tvs needed to get bigger due to consumer demand (and i'm sure if they get even bigger and 100" becomes the norm, 8k will be requested,) and monitors have always required it since they're so close AND are commonly bigger than the average 24". 8k just isn't required UNLESS you're doing a monitor the size of what linus did. which could very well take off as a trend, but we shall see. i think honestly we won't see 8k until we get to that point where the power to do 8k is readily available in the GPU market, where most pc users will say "well why shouldn't we?" either that or the TV market catches up first and created 8K movies and content.

While you won't see anyone in the console race talking about it for some time, the resolution race is already well underway, and the supporting tech is already in place aside from cable bandwidth.

Are there any monitors out there that you can "merge" properly? So you don't see that plastic around them when you put them togheter
Are there any monitors out there that you can "merge" properly? So you don't see that plastic around them when you put them togheter
Yeah I mean if you just Google it you'd find this It looks like those are the closest you are going to get to having no bezel.
It would work really well if they used 4K projectors, no bezel to contend with.
It would work really well if they used 4K projectors, no bezel to contend with.
Lining up output of each projector is going to be pain in the ass.
Are there any monitors out there that you can "merge" properly? So you don't see that plastic around them when you put them togheter
Yeah, there's a few "thin-bezel" / borderless screens out there.
