Microsoft says PS4 is outselling Xbox One because PS3 didn't satisfy customers
"It's hard to really assess the gap in sales," Mehdi said. "[Sony is] in many more markets right now than we are. They're in 40+ markets, we're in 13." The PS4 won't have a such a dramatic regional availability advantage for much longer, as the Xbox One will be released in Japan and 25 other regions in September.
Another reason why the Xbox One has fallen behind the PS4 in terms of sales so far is because, according to Mehdi, Xbox 360 owners enjoy their systems more than PlayStation 3 owners do, so they are less inclined to upgrade.
"People have been more satisfied with the Xbox 360 than the PS3, so in that respect people have less of a need to upgrade in the short-term due to regular updates for the Xbox 360," Mehdi said. "We could point to any number of things."
Oh you MS.
Keep being funny.
Oh go fuck off the edge of my dick Microsoft, everything you say is a joke.
thats funny
im sitting here with my ps3 with about ~ 100 exclusive games that all kick ass
the most the 360 has is a third persion shooter with gore, a racing game and uhhhhhhhhh halo.

oh and dead rising. dont think im missing anything notable now
Xbox 360 owners enjoy their systems more than PlayStation 3 owners do
Of course PS3 owners didn't enjoy the Xbox 360, they didn't buy an Xbox ya dummy.
I think microsoft forgot the part where the PS3 ended up being very successful in the end.

They're already at the first step
but i feel satisfied, even i have a 12gb version and one game
I bought an Xbox 360 about two years ago. I turned it on maybe two or three times over a year, and then sold it to Best Buy for a pair of Logitech wireless headphones.
The headphones? I use those every day. What now, Microsoft?
(Granted, I've not really used the PS4 a whole lot either.)

I am no expert on running a business by any means but uh....isn't that kind of the opposite of what you want?
MS forgot how the Playstation brand outsold the Xbox every single time.
PS2 vs Xbox? PS2 won, being the best seller of all time
PS3 vs x360? PS3 also won that last time I heard about it. Even the wii outsold the x360, but it also outsold the PS3.
PS4 vs X1? Yeah, MS knows it...
Besides, the x360 was already so increadibly behind when it was released...
And I'd never be satisfied with an x360 in my life. Small number of bland exclusives compared to the PS3 and having to pay to play online. Seriously, why force people to pay for YET ANOTHER SUBSCRIPTION on top of all the other crap you already have to pay for nowadays?

I doubt it really matters. If everyone loves the 360 and is still buying that, they're still giving sales to MS.
Microsoft rage quit. Love it.
I think Xbox had a strong opening which really lead to it's success down the road, PS3 had a bad start(I was an early comer), while the games were few and decent. The console really didn't shine until midway through the consoles life. I'd say they finished in a tie, PS3's end of life years really had some amazing titles.
I don't know how the console war will turn out but I do know the more competition the better it is for the consumer.
Or maybe, just maybe, your "next-gen" console isn't enticing enough to warrant an upgrade from the current user base.
How on earth does that reasoning make sense? That's like saying you bought an xbox one because gfwl left a bad taste in your mouth.

Next they will call Sony a faggot and that they had sex with their mother.
To be fair, the PS3 had a terrible launch just like the Xbox One did
Yes my consumer thinking is "boy this shit sucks, better buy the next iteration"
Meanwhile 360 owners are so satisfied with their systems they don't even buy games or anything else anymore because the 2 or 3 they got on launch where so. good.
"I dont like Thing therefore i will buy the sequel of Thing"
-microsoft logic

I like how they think Japan's going to make a difference.
After the original Xbox moved 2 million units there (Compared to the PS2's 23 million) and the Xbox 360 moved 1.6 million (Compared to the PS3's 10 million), I doubt the Xbox One is going to sell much at all there.
That is the most preposterous rationalization of a company's product completely failing that I've ever heard.
I'd love to live in the world where Microsoft lives where they can be absolutely guiltless and have NOTHING be their fault.

Uh, the PS3 was the one that did terribly when it first came out, and to this day it has been lagging behind the 360. How could the 360 be behind on release? It came out a year before the PS3 and outsold it for a couple of years, it wasn't until 3-4 years into the generation that the PS3 caught up.

Microsoft baking on Japanese sales is pretty fuckin' laughable since the Wii U's Japanese sales recently surpassed the 360's lifetime Japanese sales.
More people in Japan own a Wii U than they do a 360, the console that has been out for SEVEN YEARS.

Doesn't Japan has "western rubbish bins" for stuff like that?

The PS3 has more sales
(and in general better games but that's my opinion)

mostly irrelevant metrics, i know of a few people who just bought a ps3 because it was a cheap blu ray player.

Is there not another statistic based on exclusive game purchases? I would look it up but I'm doing something.
xbox customers buy more multiplat games but PS3 customers buy more exclusives

The Dreamcast and the Vita have both outsold the 360 in Japan too. When the three consoles best known as failures have sold more than you, you know you're not doing well.
Everyone wanted a PS3 until the price was revealed, then 360 actually ended up beating sony for half the gen. Then Sony made a miracle comeback.
