I was going out into town to drop off my niece at preschool, some guy.. I don't know, he like hit the curb, flipped, rolled, and just.. fucking pancaked the woman. I will not ever, ever, ever be able to erase the image from my mind. Luckily my niece didn't see it happen, but she did see the woman on the ground. (was about 20-50 feet from us.) I just told her she was lying there :smith:
I took her to get icecream to get her to stop asking questions.
should talk to someone professional about what you saw, bruv. might make you feel better
How old is your niece?

She's.. four? I think? She was diddling around on my phone watching Toy Story, so she missed pretty much everything.

That's a relief, then. It'd be pretty traumatic to see something like that at age four.
I suggest getting some help to cope with what you saw. It must have been a horrifying experience, I hope you the best mate.
I know how to feel to a certain extent, when I was in Elementary School (primary) our bus drove past an accident where a man's arm was laying on the ground separate from his body. Professional help is probably going to be needed in this case for you.
You handled the situation well though, well done.
ugh I dont know how I would deal with that. Thats one reason I couldn't sign up to be a firefighter, I cant deal with sights like that.
Are you okay?
...How is asking if he is alright dumb?
I hope you are scarred for life and will only have short periods of sleep due to the fact the image will wake you throughout the night in nightmares. :downs:

I'd like to see you go through what Persecution went through this morning.

That's just wrong. I don't care if you're trying to be funny, because if you are, you are completely failing at it. This man saw someone die in a highly violent way.
I'd like to see you say that to him again after witnessing what he witnessed.
I've seen a lot of pictures and videos of people dying on television and the internet, some of them quite gory.
But I think it would still be a shocking and hard-to-cope-with moment if I saw any of that in person, especially unexpected like that.
OP You handled it perfectly for your niece, she should be proud to have you.
Hope you feel better

it is
I haven't seen someone pancaked, but gore and death is so much more mentally disturbing when it's happening around you
my condolences to you op, you handled the situation better than most

It's traumatic at any age.
I am pretty sure you can get free help with dealing with what you saw.

That seriously suck cock. I sat in a car that hit a person. It really sticks inside your head. I can almost hear the sound when I try to remember the impact.
If it makes you stay up at night then I suggest you go see a person to talk to like everyone else suggested.
Wow, that must've been pretty traumatic. Personally i've never seen someone die in person, though the closest thing to that which I experienced was being driven past a pub whilst someone was trying to resuscitate some big dude who I assume had a heart attack. Didn't really hit hard at home for me, not really anything that I can't stop thinking about, but I do remember it now as I read the thread, and at the time I was pretty concerned.
I don't know whether or not the guy died, but hopefully he's still alive.
Are we sharing stories?
I was driving with my dad in my first truck, a 1991 Mitsubishi MightyMax, and I had just got my permit. As we were driving through the city at ~45 mph, the speed limit, a dude walked right in front of us, not even looking both ways. I was able to slow enough that it didn't kill him, but it fucked up my truck enough that insurance had to buy new body panels (the trucks japanese, it was just thin, shitty metal.)
Had a similar thing when I was walking home from a party to see a Datsun wrapped around a tree and the medical examiners covering everything in tarp

And what happened to the guy besides not dying?
The worst I've seen is a car get wrapped around a tree, killing both the people inside. I found out later that they went to my school a few grades above me, I didn't know them personally though
I didn't see any part of the bodies, so it was easier to handle.
I once saw a housefire when I was 10-11, and a man came out. He was on fire and screaming for his life.
The firemen managed to extinguish him, but it was still a HORRIBLE sight.
Kinda irrelevant, but terrifying nonetheless.

Dairy Queen or Baskin Robbins? I'm a BR guy myself.
I have also witnessed death and the grief that it brings.
Last summer I was going to the beach with my friends and there was a medical helicopter landed on the grass. Didn't really ring any bells at that point other than, "That's curious". We proceeded to walk towards the beach where there was medical personnel running on the beach.
When we got closer we could see where they were running to. There was this small child, maybe 11-years old lying on the beach and his parents were shaking him and crying for help. At that point I just thought "shit just got real" and we just stared at the scene when the medical personnel started to do CPR on the child.
They did it for a while and then they just stopped. The parents were absolutely fucking devastated. The mother was crying hysterically and the father was screaming and shouting at god and was crying.
That scream will never leave my mind. That scream had so much emotion packed into it that you just KNOW that the father was devastated due to the loss of his son.
That sure ruined my evening.
My condolences to the woman's family...I'm not sure why everyone's saying OP should get professional help though. OP doesn't strike me as the type that needs it. I got the impression he's handling it just fine on his own.
I feel for the guy who run her over. Seriously, what OP is feeling can't even come close to comparing what the driver would feel.

This man isnt kidding. People can get PTSD over this stuff. If you are having problems sleeping, eating, depression, etc. Go see someone. Dont debate it.
Back a couple months ago(while (bad) tripping on acid mind you) me and a couple friends were driving and a truck with a greatly damaged front when by. Farther up the road we were greeted by the accident scene. That didn't improve my mood at all with the (drying) blood on the road.
